Took this pic at -- or actually under -- the site of this morning's truck accident and fire.
All that bent-up metal? Guardrails. Which the young entrepreneurs in the white pickup truck were busy loading up... much to the amusement of the BR Cop that was posted up < 200' away right on the other side of Duvics.
Also, can you imagine stepping into that Port-o-let right before the accident? "Hmmm, air freshener that now smells like burning diesel. And why did it suddenly get real warm outside?"

Are guardrails actually worth something?

Metal is valuable. Is it worth it, depends on the collector.

A lot more valuable when it is free.

I heard that this morning... live right by there (duh)... but didn't realize what was going on until I saw stuff on FB later.

My dad collects scrap metal.
He goes every couple of months and gets an extra $2-300.
If he manages to get his hands on some copper, he can get more than that, but its pretty hard to flip copper wire now.

Tell your dad that we want our two condensing units back from behind our office building. Our security cameras caught a glimpse of him but his hoodie was covering his face.

They write you a check for it now. No longer pay cash since all the wire stripping and air conditioner stealing in BR a few years back/currently happening
If you can put a load of ferrous metal of at least a ton or more it'll make it worth your while.
