Yeah, that's not long at all. I read the first part of the letter thinking that was it. I'm not reading 6 more pages

He participated in a murder/robbery. I sure hope he's talking about other injustly incarcerated people...not himself.
Our prison system neither rehabilitates nor punishes adequately. It just keeps the bad guys away for a while. If we want to change something, change low income ghetto/trailer park culture that produces most of the violent criminals and the prison problem will work itself out.

Basically the white man forced him to slit someone's throat.

Cry me a river convict. Don't want to be in prison and treated like a slave? Don't commit a crime that will put you in prison.

I skimmed a bit more. There's a lot of dumbfrick in his writing. Poor fricker never had a chance. It must somehow be my fault because I'm an educated white dude who's grandparents moved to America in the 1920s and 1930s.

6 pages of "the man's keeping me down and I shouldn't be executed" even though he was a full and willing participant in the murder.

Amazing how much my perception changed from reading the first letter to the second.

From the death row inmate's letter:
How convenient, for a guy about to be executed for killing only one person.
quote:
If the death penalty must exist, I think it should only be for cases where more than one person is killed

Hell, he might even actually believe it. Its a broken culture that refuses to help itself yet can only blame another for all of their problems. That same culture produces human garbage like this moron who will go to his grave blaming his fate on an injust system.

There was a lot of truth to that. Some misguided opinions mixed as is the case with almost any opinion piece.
Overall a good read.

Add to that ending the war on drugs, and you have a winner.

I'm not going to let a convicted murderer lecture me on empathy...
Where the frick was the empathy for the man he killed?

Actually, he didn't kill anyone
quote:
I'm on death row and yet I didn't commit the act of murder. I was convicted under the law of parties. When people read about the case, they assume I killed the victim, but the facts are undisputed that I did not kill the victim. The one who killed him plead guilty to capital murder for a life sentence. He admitted to the murder and has never denied it. Under the Texas law of parties, they say it doesn't matter whether I killed the victim or not, I'm criminally responsible for someone else's conduct. But I was the only one given the death penalty.
ETA: I take back this statement. Remember kids, read before you post

I read it all. While some points are valid, at the end of the day he just throws blame at others rather than just manning up.
