Just to be clear.
The dinstinction between being a WR and a TE means alot of money to JG if he gets franchised.
Although his official position is listed as a tight end, his job performance more closely reflects the WR role.
They almost need to create a new position for these hybrid TE's.
We still have to carry a true TE on the roster for blocking/occasional pass catching.

thats what im hinting at i thought it was funny how they are saying he is a TE (cause they don't wanna pay him WR money), yet they release a infographic saying he's a WR.. thought more people would get it.

Not really. Graham is just an example of the evolution of the TE.

I think the distinction of a TE being considered a Wide receiver when they line up >50% of the time outside is a joke. The problem is that a true wide receiver likely lines up outside 95%-100% of the time. I have never seen any of the other WRs on the Saints roster (and prob anywhere else) line up anywhere else but wide and definitely haven't seen them next to an offensive tackle with their hand in the dirt or seen them as part of the line for the FG team.

That's a fact.
It's also a fact that the team doesn't have the money to pay him the franchise tag for a WR. If JG doesn't agree to a reasonable long term deal before the drop dead date, look for a tag and trade. Don't like it, but that's the reality.
The NFL cap hasn't gone up since 2009 (in fact it went down) and every team is struggling to keep their top players...no matter what the position. The greed shown by the owners is certainly affecting the play on the field. If you don't have a $15-$20 million QB, or $15 million WR, or a $16 million CB, you can load up elsewhere and win it all (see the Seahawks for proof thereof).
To think you can have a $20 million QB and $14 million TE/WR and be competitive in just not going to happen...especially the way the Saints draft.

The Lions are a good example of a team that have to much money invested in just 3 positions. Cap hits for the 3 below are around 40% of their total cap space and overall have more than half of their cap tied up in just the QB, WR, and DT position.
Stafford - $18,000,000
Johnson - $13,000,000
Suh - $22,400,000

No, he isn't and doesn't deserve that money either
