I typically use TurboTax because my income is relatively straightforward (no business or rental income). I would assume these softwares are pretty much the same. Any thoughts? Anyone have different results between two different systems?

I use the internet version of turbo tax and love it and I have a relatively complex return. I have regular income from an employer, my wife is a contractor, we have rental property, and I get K1 from two separate S corps. Never had a prollum. the first two years I got my return reviewed just to be safe and all was good both times.

How much was it? I'm thinking about doing my taxes today.
All my rental property is in a single llc.
I've got a w2.
Should be pretty straightforward right?

I think mine with state was about $150. The simpler your return, the cheaper it is. I have been quoted about $500 for someone else to do them btw.
ETA: SHould be very straight forward. the hardest part will be the first year, getting all of the depreciation correct etc. Next year that will all be in there already.

I've used Turbo Tax for many years now and a couple of years ago heard a little nugget that will probably keep me using it for a long time more.
One of my project team's developers used to work for Intuit on TT. He said that Intuit works so closely with the IRS that if they put the wrong interpretation of a law in the software, IRS auditors will generally just go along with it.
His words, not mine - but I found it reassuring.

not really surprising. Can you imagine the work the IRS would have to put in to get it right? Crazy how many people use turbotax.

As an option, the IRS website has a link where you can do simple 1040's online directly from their website. And it's free.
Might be worth checking out before buying something.
Here's the link: IRS.gov
ETA: FTR, I've never used that website. I use TurboTax.
