re: LF excitement is reminiscent of Russel Shepard

Faulk's commitment > Fournette's commitment
Anyone who follows LSU footbal today knows how huge it was to get LF. He's the #1 recruit in the country and he lives in our state. Not to mention the fact that we actually needed a standout running back. It would have been terrible to lose him to BAMA or another SEC school (any school really)
BUT, anyone who's been following LSU footbal for more than ten years also knows how big getting Faulk was to LSU. He was a top recruit who lived in our state and chose LSU when it was NOT popular for in state kids to do so. See the list of future NFL Hall of Famers around his age who went elsewhere. There's also the fact that Faulk has ALREADY played several downs at LSU and established himself as one of the greatest to ever play the position here; some would say he's THE greatest.
Anyway,my intent is not to hate on #Buganation. Believe me I'm dying for this kid to succeed and I'm really confident that he will. I hope when it's all said and done he's one of the greatest to ever play college football not just to play at LSU. But do we really have to discount the achievements of guys like Faulk, Hill and Charles Alexander(a Heisman finalist by the way) before LF even steps on campus?

I remember that, very well. KF was a huge land, indeed.
But I think LF is a different type of player. He's a power back. Time will tell as to who was the better overall recruit.
I'm just looking forward to seeing what he can do, for us.....

Where does this BS come from? Who is doing this? Anyone discounting those LSU RBs is a fricking idiot or a troll.
Seeing Fournette's commitment as a the biggest LSU RB get out of high school doesn't mean those other guys you mentioned weren't great gets too. It just means none of them had all the national acclaim that Fournette comes to LSU owning. None of those backs came to LSU as the top high school RB in the nation.

We would've sucked hind tit until Saban got here, similar to how we still did even after we got Faulk.
You didn't much pay attention to LSU football prior to Saban, did you?
DiNardo actually "brought back the Magic" WITH Faulk in '95. Although he lost the magic soon after.
Pre-Faulk
'89 4-7
'90 5-6
'91 5-6
'92 2-9
'93 5-6
'94 4-7
Along comes Dinardo and Faulk (and others)
'95 6-4-1
'96 10-2 (bowl win)
'97 9-3 (bowl win)

I sure did. Why stop at 97'?

Cause the discussion is KF's impact.

I don't disagree with that. If we're talking about recruiting AND actual college production then, obviously, LF can't be in that conversation YET.If we're talking about national acclaim coming out of high school than it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to argue against LF.
But, honestly, I don't see the value in arguing about how a guy is the highest rated recruit a school has ever had. For example, Travis Minor from Cathoic High was the #1 recruit in the country when he went to Florida State back in the late 90's. So he's likely one of the highest rated recruits they've ever gotten based on rankings. Production wise, he's probably not.
Again, I'm not hating on LF. I'm not a negatiger and I woldn't root against him just to see Miles fail or something stupid like that. I want him to be the greatest.I'm excited he's here and not saying that others shouldn't be excited.
But the attitued people are taking about this kid scares me. As it stands a 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns would be a disappointment to some of these idiots. Thats just nuts.

Would've been great if Cam was here whenever we brought in RS. I'd love to see what he could do with a little imagination on offense.

First, you are entitled to your opinion. Second, the long runs Fournette will break this year (assuming he stays healthy) will be jaw-dropping. Give him a crease and he's gone. If he's the 3rd leading rusher on this team, Magee & Hilliard will have rushed for 1,100 yards each. Book it!!!

Not saying the outcome will be the same but I haven't seen the fan base this excited about a recruit since RS.
Then why did you even make this freaking thread??

It was an observation that I wanted to share. Wasn't trying to stir the pot. Honestly.
