I am currently in the market for a mudmotor. I would like the complete package with a 1754 hull with center console, remote steering and reverse. Looking for some insight.

Thanks!

Just curious, but why doesn't Mud Buddy/Gator Trax get more love on here? I don't know much about mud boats/motors, but my hunting partner has a MB/GTX combo and it seems like a really good setup to me.

Pro drive. Full power reverse FTW.

I like Prodrive's SBX boat. I've seen plenty of stories of people swamping their boat when running up on the bank. I like the idea of a boat that can float and correct itself. I like the instant reverse of the Gator Tail motor though.

Take your pick really. It basically comes down to the reverse. Instant on the GT is pretty cool, but the full power on the PD is the shite when you're in a tough bind.

eta: we went with the GT because its mainly a fishing boat and the convenience of the instant reverse met our needs better

I have a stock Prodrive 1860CC, and love having the full power reverse. This year I hunted a stiff north wind that blew all of the water out the marsh which left me high and dry. I would not have gotten out with another motor. The Prodrive lifts the back of the boat when in reverse. There is a slight inconvenience having to plan your movements before you do them without on demand reverse, but it has never been a problem.

With two grown men, a child, and loaded down with all duck hunting gear (boat blind, 12 gallons of fuel, two batteries, etc.) we were running about 18 mph in deep water, and about 22 in the shallows.

Its like Chevy and Ford. Go with whatever model suites you best.
