He implied we were sissy men based off the pic he included.

As an owner of a N54 335i (twin turbo), there is surprisingly little to any turbo lag. The power is also pretty linear.
Mated to an automatic? How can you tell which one is lagging? I'm sure BMW does it right, I just simply don't need that. I have an N52 with a 6 speed manual and it's a hoot to drive.
I just can't imagine downshifting a N54 from say 5th at 70 mph (cruising) into 3rd, while slamming the gas to the floor, and it being as linear as an N52. Maybe I just don't understand. I can always find ample acceleration with the inline 6, instantly. Maybe if I had driven more turbos I'd want one. IDK though, I went way the frick out of my way to find one without it. I want to keep the car for a very long time...so that also had something to do with not wanting them.

It's called debadging and that's damn near NEVER why people do it. This is turning into a shite show.

Gaston knows everything, you're obviously wrong.
I'd buy that exact car if I was in the market with the current line up.

That's just not true. The big thing in the 90s was people adding "limited" or "turbo" autozone emblems to their cars. And I've seen several Mercedes vehicles with AMG badges and the regular badge removed. There are too many regular Mustangs with Cobra emblems to count, same goes for SS emblems on Camaros, SI emblems on Hondas, etc. People lie about what they have all the time.

But you talk about turbo lag even though you admit you've never driven one. How would you know?

Has the OP backtracked from his original statement yet?

I hope not because it was pretty dead on.

OK, morons...gotcha.
Debadging is very European thing to do, German autos are easily ordered from the factory without them having ever been applied. Badge delete.
Americans would know shite about not posturing though...

I'm a physicist.
ETA: OK, I understand that turbo lag has been drastically reduced from pre 2007 levels with the addition of another, parallel turbo. I simply didn't want it for upkeep issues and the fact that I'm 100% happy with 230 bhp.

Meh...nothing wrong with buying a 3 series imo.

And what does that have to do with how BMW engineers designed the powerband of their turbo'ed engines?
Being a physicist doesn't make you a know at all, as much as that will disappoint you.

I can't count how many Jeeps I've seen at used car lots and Craigslist with the Rubicon sticker across the hood. Look inside and there's no locker switch.

If it is an M3.
ETA: I drove a 1986 325es as my first car. It was awesome, but today's 3 series are weak, mass produced and girly.

An SUV, but I'm searching for the right E39 M5 to accompany it.

No shite. I'd drive a 335i or a 5 whatever they're called now in a heartbeat. I don't want to own a BMW with an automatic or turbos for fear of large repair bills and it's simply not what I want to drive. I love how that makes me a know it all. I just simply have an opinion.
All turbos aren't bad, obviously...I trust the engineers at BMW and damn near every single car they produce has a couple of them. Great. Still doesn't mean I have to want one.
