If I bought a tesla do I just plug it into the wall socket (standard everyday wall socket) in my garage or do I need something "extra".
I know stuff is available but do I NEED it?
Thanks!

It's solar powered
No need to charge

I think you need a certain charger. It comes with the car.

The thought of paying 35k for a car that would typically cost 15k at the maximum with an average of 45 mpg on a gasoline engine simply to minimize energy consumption only to consume electricity to charge the vehicle on a daily basis is hysterical. Liberal wacks really hit a homerun with this one.

First of all, I am not a liberal, I am a leftist.
Secondly I thank those responding but I am still not clear if I can just plug it into the wall outlet at home.
Thank you in advance.

That it might use more natural resources to produce the electricity than it would of it were to use gas. Hypothetically, of course.

IIRC it will be slightly more efficient than a gasoline engine in terms of fossil fuel usage.
That wasn't what my post was about though. Saying a Tesla is 35k, but only worth 15k

--You CAN plug it into a wall outlet. However, if you plug it into a standard 110v wall outlet, it will take 2 days or more to charge the vehicle.
--I installed a 50amp 220v outlet that is used to charge a Tesla Sedan. It will charge fully in a few hours.
--Baton Rouge is supposed to be getting a Tesla charging station in the next year or so that will fully charge a Tesla in about 20-30 minutes.
--35k won't let you sniff a Tesla. The sedan is about $75k. I think the sport coupe is about $100k.

You can buy the High Power Home Charger through Tesla as an accessory for $2,700.
It is not actually included with the car, even the P85 Performance model S.
