Are you serious? Are you judging picture clarity by an ipad photo? The picture quality on any HD channel or a bluray is nothing short of stunning. It actually took a few weeks to get used to viewing because it feels like what you are watching is literally in the room with you. Almost like a 3D effect without 3D. We were watching something in HD on Christmas day and a relative who hadn't seen it yet asked if I had a bluray disc in. Of course, I'm just flaunting my OT baller status to laugh at the jealousy that ensues, but this TV is one of the most gratifying things I've ever purchased. I love movies, and this TV takes your viewing pleasure to an entirely different level.

They could be referring to your setup, bro. A big arse TV just sitting on a little stand doesn't look great. You need a full entertainment center

Always go bigger.
I went from a 51" to a 60" and haven't regretted it one bit.

Entertainment centers for 80" tvs aren't that easy to find. Most entertainment centers tend to be a piece of furniture to take up space that the tv doesn't fill on the wall. I have no need for that. I want something that raises the tv to eye level without detracting from the tv as the focal point in the room.

Adding a roku or apple tv will accomplish the same thing but give more options
yeah, just pile extra stuff on the shelf or floor around your tv. lol
Smart tv is better, not in functionality, just in everything considered.
Anyway, to each his own, if you want all kids of extra hookups in certain areas of your house, good luck with it, I'm sure they work great with all the wires and such.

It just screams blind geriatric...albeit one who had a good job when they worked.

This is where our opinons diverge. A huge arse TV like that should be in a man cave, not as the primary item of furniture in your living room. A TV bigger than the fireplace on a KMart TV stand that is too small is not exactly what I want in my house.

I got a 3D samsung 51" a couple years ago on sale for like $850. I love it

We definitely disagree there. When my family watches a movie together, or when I play xbox with my kid, I think the living room (aka family room) is the place to do it, not a man cave. The overwhelming amount of time that is spent in the living room is time spent watching tv. I don't see the advantage of having a small tv in a large piece of furniture for that purpose.
