"Has Chip Kelly Revolutionized the NFL Yet?" - lsutigers1992

Thread anchored and didn't take my bump
End of the season bump.
2012 Eagles won 4 games.
2013: 10 wins and the division title.
Despite having shite talent on defense, they won the division and nearly won a playoff game.
Eagles posted 417.2 YPG (2nd in the NFL), 27.6 PPG (4th in the NFL), 6.3 YDS/Play (1st in the NFL), rushed for 2,566 yards (1st in the NFL, 250 more than any other team), at 5.1 YPC (1st in the NFL), 160.4 YPG (1st in the NFL), 19 rush plays of 20+ yards (2nd in the NFL), 5 rush plays of 40+ yards (tied for 1st in the NFL), 8.7 yards per pass (1st in the NFL), 32 passing TDs (5th in the NFL), 80 passing plays of 20+ yards (1st in the NFL, 12 more than even the Broncos), 18 passing plays of 40+ yards (1st in the NFL), 102.7 passer rating (4th in the NFL, but Nick Foles 119.2 was the highest in the NFL).
Not bad for an offense that lost it's opening day NFL starter. But hey, that "bullshite, gimmick offense soft shite" will never work in the NFL.

Next year when he makes adaptions will be the most interesting aspect of it. Same for DCs having a full season of game tape.

Well is that really a division? The dumpster fire division maybe

My initial reaction was that a lot of people crowned their arse after the first half of the Washington game. I reacted to their overreacton.
I tip my hat to them making the playoffs because they were horrible on defense until Foles came in and they figured it out. The NFC East was disgustingly bad, however.

Yep, has to continue to evolve. But he put to rest that he needs a mobile QB to run his offense well and any lingering doubt that "it doesn't work in the NFL."
Eagles did it without one of the best two WRs, too.
I suspect the offseason and draft will be heavily focused on improving the D talent. D really lacked talents, though coaches did a good job maximizing what they had.

Bad division, for sure.
I picked on you, because your thread was easiest to find, is all.
As an Eagles fan, feel great about where the organization is headed.

It's okay. It wasn't a shot at the Eagles. It was more that I found the overreaction after 2 quarters of football was similar to when Oregon puts up a 50-spot in September.
And of course, the two are connected.

He was making changes as the season went on. I fully expect Chip to continue to be successful.

Lots of tard posting in that thread, unsurprisingly.
I was bullish on Kelly from the moment his hire was announced, and that hasn't changed.

Hell, he transitioned the offense from a great runner/okay passer to a non-runner/good passer in a matter of games.

I know you've always been a fan.
He's gonna be a good coach for a long, long time.

I wasn't sold on Chip to the NFL at first, but what he accomplished offensively was pretty remarkable. He has shown he doesn't exactly have a 'system'. He is a top notch offensive mind and can adapt to personnel on the fly. When DC's start to figure him out, he will have already adapted to something else.
I was wrong. Chip Kelly will be a fantastic coach for a long time.

Adapting the offense wasn't my concern with him, I actually think he's good enough on that part to do that. I was thinking how he deals/relates with the NFL players (pretty much my concern with a lot of NCAA coaches going to NFL) that I wasn't sure of.
He did a great job this year, for sure.

Smart mother he is. Just wish he was in the AFC.

It's kind of crazy they won 10 games but only beat 1 playoff team(Green bay when TOlzien started)

Seems like the NFL has been weird like that all around, this year.
Indy beats Niners, Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs (2x).
But lose to Rams (badly), Dolphins, Cards and other average teams. Also snuck by some bad teams.
But yeah, I don't think the Eagles were a great team this year.

He still needs some work, but he's not bad.
They shouldn't have lost to Minnesota, and it looked like he and/or Foles wasn't sure how to close it out in Dallas until Kyle Orton bailed them out.
They went from terrible to good to very good to almost missing the playoffs to one and done.
Next year will be interesting. Dallas will always be a contender, and you just have no idea if Washington or New York will be any good. History indicates that at least one of those two will rebound.

i do think he'll need to prove it over 2-3 years in order to say "revolutionized".
Redskins thought they revolutionized shite last year.

Agree LE. They weren't in the top echelon of teams, but you can't deny the leaps they made from last year. He brought in new energy and really did a good job turning them around. I was impressed how easily he seemed to adapt to his personnel.
It is nice to have LeSea McCoy too
