Pretty stupid when you consider that winning 44 games in 4 years isnt a "moral" victory. It is a stat of a good team. Seriously, the English language is not that difficult.

. I'm trying to help you understand why we should question several things; namely, whether 4 years is the correct period to evaluate, whether raw numbers is the best metric to use
many thanks for the help professor. my period of questioning is over. les has been around long enough to evaluate using any fricking metric you want.

I ask that you think about it critically and take it at face value
why do i feel like there really is no "face value" with you. just methodology, metrics, etc.

If after doing that, you still don't see the issues I've pointed out, that's fair enough.
while i see the mathematical reasoning, i am uncertain as to the "issues" you speak of. frick math; in the SEC west 10 wins is still a big deal i don't care what statistical bull shite is cooked up. 11 wins is better than 10 and imo should be the benchmark for an excellent season but 10 is still damn good. and my narrative, which is only manufactured by myself, says that we have average 11 wins per year over the last 4 years and that 4 year period is indeed relevant because of the difficulties we experience after winning the '07 NC. it is not arbitrary at all; esp when you consider it represents a comeback after losing our OL and QB to attrition and expulsion respectively.

"22 out of the current top 25 teams"
Don't play in the SEC, let alone the SEC West. I'd say it's still impressive.

1 SEC title, 2-2 bowl record, 1 BCS appearance, 0 BCS wins, 0 National Championships.
Amassing wins are nice and all, but what good is winning all those games if you can't win the hardware.

Les & Cholly Mac are pretty much neck and neck on # of loses through this point in their careers at LSU.

Also...
"In the last three seasons, LSU’s 10 victories over teams that finished in the top 25 of the final BCS standings are the most nationally. "
So, again, not all 10 win seasons are created equal.
"Turning back to the SEC, if you extend it out over the last five seasons, Alabama (16-6) has the best record. LSU (14-11) is right behind the Crimson Tide"
Sizing up SEC resumes
Teams like Boise St and Northern Illinois will rack up 10 win seasons without breaking a sweat...who you play matters.

Nick Saban plays in this division, too. He seems to be able to have hardware to show for all his wins.

is 10 wins really what it used to be
While LSU plays more games in the regular season, we also should note the SEC is a much, much stronger and deeper conference than at any other time in it's history.
If we look at college football from 2000 to 2005, we see the SEC having 1 NC. From 2006 to 2012, the SEC has 7 NC earned by 4 different SEC programs.
I think having 7 seasons out of the last 9 with 10 wins or better when you play in the SEC is amazing and not an accomplishment to be taken lightly 12 game seasons or not.
With all due respect to any Pac 10 or Big 10 or ACC 10 win programs, but with the SEC being 5-1 in the bowls and looking at 2-3 more wins yet to come....get out of here with that "22 out of the current top 25 teams" stuff.

LEs has hardware too. Let's not act like we've never won the SEC or a national championship with him. In fact, Les has won it the same amount of times Saban has. We just unfortunately got some terribly shitty luck to not get a title with our last win.
But I'm not shocked you're still making stupid comments.

This third is about a 4 year period. NS and Les dont have the same hardware in that period.

That doesn't change anything about what I've said. We have just as many SEC titles as Bama in the last 4 years and were robbed of a title to give them one.

The bcs is what has allowed the sec to win so many championships over the last 8 years. In the past, the 1 or 2 loss teams would not have had a chance to play for a national championship. Had the bcs been around forever, who knows, the sec could have had a national championship run like this in the late 50s and early 60s.

You should ask a person that actually plays football Tulane fan.

You sound like that 2008 crew over on SecR, "not going to NC, don't care". Basically saying 'what good is it' from 1980-2008 save one year. No sense of through thick and thin, no sense of loyalty. I'm not sure if it's generational, cultural, or something else. But you represent well.

It's amusing to me when the best the bashers can come of with is "Saban has done better" when we talk current results.
I'm sorry, but I can't be all that upset/disappointed in the LSU football program under Miles when that program's results equate to a Top 3-5 level in the 9 yrs the man has been here.
We always seem to want more of a good thing no matter what we are talking bout, but pissing and moaning bout the best you ever had when that best is also one of the best around is just silly and shows how very spoiled we have become due to the efforts of the very man we are pissing on.

Too bad it's been squandered. Good point.

Like THE University of Louisiana has any idea about success in football.
