I suspect I know who your friend is (former LSU player). I'm still saying "wow", I didn't think it would come to a greyshirt offer. Dammit.

Is what it is I guess. Both sides of this game have their business to tend to.

Hootie is a very, very good player. you DON'T turn down a player of his caliber. the only way we should turn down hootie is IF we told JA he was the last safety commit AND JA is holding us to this (after the hootie decommit). but, the idea that hootie's spot has been taken and we will get 9+ more recruits that are of higher quality than hootie is wrong. we need safetys and adding hootie to a need position would be good. unless the adams camp is against it, WE SHOULD TAKE HOOTIE.

ex. would we pass on adoree if he wanted to commit. no.

No, Adoree is a CB and a playmaker. And doubt he comes here anyway.

Exactly why Hootie will not be in this class.

Hooties idol is PP7 and he has always been a tiger fan plus his mom wants him to stay home.

Bama fans claim that Hootie's mom really wants him to go to Bama and loves Saban.

So which is it?

They really are worried he doesn't end up at Bama though...keep mentioning that they are amazed he would consider defying his mom and friend's wishes.

They are a funny bunch.

clearly, Hootie is confused at this point in time. does anyone know what role his head coach is playing in all this? he has to be someone who Hootie could turn to for advice and has experience with the Diarse recruitment.

Wrong

He's on record as saying he grew up an Ohio State fan

Precisely why he and his camp need to just relax and just observe for the next month or so to see how things shake out. I know he had his heart set on being an EE but that may not be the best option. Better to come in the summer and be at the school you want rather than be an EE at Ole Miss, a school he didn't even have on his radar at all. Hope he realizes this. CLM and staff will still take him, and OM isn't going anywhere if LSU doesn't have room.

I believe McCarthy takes a detached but supportive "make the right decision for you" approach. He does not push one particular school over the other.

Yes. He seems like a very level-headed guy.

McCarthy doesn't have to push a certain school to give advice.

Hootie will be a tiger. Just needs to sit and wait. The ole miss stuff is just for entertainment. He made a mistake but will end up at Lsu. Just a little later than expected and without all the hoopla.

most schools in the area have HCs that are pretty good about not really pushing one way or the other. Both Shows and McCarty (it is McCarty btw) both have personal and program policies to try and make sure it stays that way- unbiased and drama free.

Obviously, it seems once Shows went into the hospital things went a little sideways with B Guice over in WM, but that's the exception not the rule.

ETA: an observation, I think most of the Neville kids used to rely on their S&C coach for advice on recruiting and getting their name out (for the less touted players).

How does a Jamal Adams thread always go back go hootie

Until Jamal verbally commits wherever he goes ... Then hootie can be the focus of discussion. But until then

Jamal is our guy... At least that's how I see it

I hear what you're saying, but you have to admit both their recruitment's are somewhat intertwined.

I find it interesting the differences between the two.
- As it gets closer to D-Day Adams becomes more and more firm; Hootie became more and more indecisive.
- As the decision process went on, Adams invloved less and less people, Hootie relied more and more on others
- Adams went from 3 or 4 schools to 2 and then 1 quickly; Hootie had years to go from 3 to... 4? (tOSU dream school, Bama, LSU, and now OM???).

The Hootie to Ole Miss started because "supposedly" Saban has a no decommit policy and Miles hadnt returned Hootie's calls, seemingly less interested. How the next school in line became Ole Miss is interesting since Hootie had never mentioned them.

It would be a good problem to have if Miles got every position of need filled with a big fish leaving Hootie only a grey shirt offer. We would find out just how bad Hootie wants to come to LSU at that point.

Seems to me that Hootie should just let it ride out. I doubt if LSU gets everyone they want and Ole Miss will always be there along with just about anyone else.

How true is this " Hootie actually spoke to Miles and said that he had made a big mistake and wants to go to LSU"?

You mean like on a scale of 1-10 how true is it? It's either true or false.

False
