Well crap, I guess Bart Starr and Drew Brees arent clutch. How unclutch of them to get up early in their superbowls and not allow themselves to have a game winning drive
WOW... You just don't get it..........

And Jim Kelly isnt clutch because after he setup his team for the field goal his kicker misse
What does Jim Kelly have to do with anything.

I just think the clutch thing is stupid. Tom Brady is a better qb than Romo, period. Do we really need to argue something that isn't tangible like "clutchness"? Both have been clutch and both have shite the bed in plenty of circumstances. This entire argument also ignores how the team got to the position where they needed a clutch moment out of there QB.

and some seem to play better in high pressure situations, like Flacco.
I bolded "seem" because you have an EXTREMELY small sample of games to support this claim.
Additionally, you're being very selective regarding which high pressure systems are considered.
And of course there is last year's playoffs. People like to point to that to "prove" that Flacco is "clutch". Flacco is awarded with "clutch" status because a safety took a bad angle.

Justin Tucker kicked a 61yd fg last week, I guess that makes Flacco clutch again

Ok forget clutch........ There are at least 10 qb's I would take over Romo... Say what you want. All ten of my qbs would have the Cowboys IN the playoffs already.......

Now this is something we can argue

What about the times that Brady failed to win a super bowl? Do those anti clutch moments cancel out his clutch moments??
What about Brady's two game ending interceptions this year? Is he suddenly less clutch? But then what about his comebacks? Is he more clutch now?
But what about the 3.75 quarters prior to the comeback in a big game? A big game is a high pressure situation, right? Or is it only high pressure at the end of the game after you played poorly during the first 3.75 quarters?
Or maybe, just maybe, "clutch" is a bullshite concept in a team sport like football (unless you're the kicker, who can be clutch).

Clutch doesn't exist in football. Period. End of story. You can make an argument that it doesn't exist in any team sports.
That being said, if i had to win a game tomorrow, there are only a handful of QBs I'd take above a healthy Romo without a doubt:
Manning
Breeze
Brady
Rodgers
Rivers
That's it. Are there are plenty of QBs who have an argument - Luck, Newton, Flacco, Wilson, Roethlisberger, Eli, Ryan, Stafford, and Dalton- but those five are the only ones I'm taking for sure.

And ROMO doesn't do this... Are you really that blind???
Didn't he just do that on Sunday, with a fricked up back?

You could argue that some of his yardage is a result of his team's having to play from behind because of its terrible defense. But that's getting into the weeds.

Just seems every time Romo loses a playoff game or doesn't make the playoffs people defend him with excuses. Defense, injuries, coaching, weather, Jerrah, etc.
It's actually a lot of fun to watch
What's his passer rating the first 3 quarters all time compared to others in the league? I can be arbitrary too.
There is a thing some athletes possess that is intangible and it's obvious with a lot of the great ones, even ones that didn't win it all. Archie had it, but was stuck in a shitty org. Stats and wins only tell half of the story.
Romo is a stat padding good QB, but will never be elite and will never win it all. No one could rightfully say he sucks, but saying he isn't ever going to be great is completely valid and I think accurate.
Also, it's not like Romo is throwing to scrubs. He's surrounded in incredible offensive talent.

Unless the Cowboys find Ed Reed and Ray Lewis clones, Romo isn't pulling a dilfer.
Of course Romo > Dilfer.
Of course Romo > Dilfer.

I agree.
Too bad there's a massive drop off after the Top 3 or Top 4 QBs in the league.

I think Romo thinks about his struggles in late games. This cause him to freeze up and shite the bed
Posted on 12/24/13 at 10:37 am to RollTide1987
Romo just doesn't have "it".
I know stat nerds will never understand that so why bother.
There are QBs that have won it all that didn't have "it" and there are ones that didn't it all and did possess "it".
For example, I think it's very obvious Russell Wilson is a born winner.

Eli, Ben, Romo, Ryan, Rivers(bounce back year), Flaco, Luck are all in the next group.
How can Peyton be head of Eli? Eli has two Super Bowl rings, which clearly makes him the better QB. In fact, Eli is one of the best in the history of the NFL and tied for the 9th best ever in the history of the game
