The bowl system is antiquated and diluted. Getting to a bowl game used to be an accomplishment in the days where there were only 10-15 bowl games (at most). Today, over half the teams in the country make it to some sort of bowl game. Hell, the SEC alone had 10 of its 14 teams make a bowl game.
At their core, bowl games are nothing more than post-season exhibition games. At a program like LSU where expectation levels are high, people don't get excited to spend over $1000+ to travel on a holiday to watch an exhibition football game anymore. The novelty of a bowl game has worn off for LSU fans, as well as many fans across the country.
Sometimes less is more. Less bowl games would probably translate to more interest in the few that were played. It's like Christmas. The excitement comes from the fact that it only comes once a year. People would lose interest in Christmas if we had it every month

Thanks Les.
One again we're going to be embarrassed on National TV.

I remember lots of empty seats in most of the bowl games last year - except the national title game and the Rose Bowl.

I'll buy 4 the day of off some black dudes on bikes.
Wouldn't go that far but the Tampa/St Pete area is a great!
I'll be at the game, douche.

Tampa is the funnest city I've been to besides maybe Vegas.
And it probably beats out vegas. Cigar capital of the US. Cuban influence and food, fantastic gulf beaches, great weather. One of the best steakhouses in the country. Best strip club in the world.

BCS Teams Struggling To Sell Bowl Tickets
Looks like LSU isn't the only team having a hard time selling it's allotment.

People spend so much $$ on "seat fees" and season tickets the bank account is empty by bowl time for a lot of folks. Only a major bowl makes them dig deeper.

LSU fans in general are entitled side walk fans

What I would really like to know is how many schools actually sold their full allotment of tickets for any given bowl game? I'm sure this statistic will pop up after bowl season.

Wish I could get down to Tampa for this bowl. Win or lose, would love to see LSU play in person. Just can't make it happen.

It's a combination of not being economically smart with a mediocre bowl, shite venue and unattractive opponent. I know those are the reasons why I'm not going. Mostly the opponent because if we were playing for a NC I'd scrap money somewhere to get those tickets for sure...

I wonder why

Winning solves a ton of these problems. You want more fan support, then LSU needs to win more. I am not saying it is right, but it is the world we live in these days. Tickets would vanish if LSU was playing in a BCS bowl or the NC. Nobody cares about playing Iowa in Tampa.

By comparison UL sold about 21,000 tickets to their bowl game. LINK

Better tickets are available off the street & cheaper
