This is a shitty band that I use to listen to in high school, but I started listening to their shite music again and I'm finding myself somehow enjoying it.
Is my mind tricking me or are they actually decent?

I think Porcelain is a pretty good record

Doc you completely ignored my question.

I liked them back then, but I honestly can't remember a song by them now.

I've been jamming the hell out of their song the most vicious crime

Really like the song Breaking the Broken. It has a cool vibe to it.
This is making me want to listen to At the Drive-In

Me too.

The only atdi song I like is Napoleon Solo and Mars Volta is just too out there. I listed to Deloused a lot in high school but quickly grew out of it. (Though Televators is still a badass song)

Loved Deloused. They seemed to become more interested in what the listener would put up with rather than write songs.
It's funny, because I checked out Mars Volta originally because of how much I liked ATDI, but I'm not sure why I never checked Sparta out.

I always enjoyed that band

my old band opened for them at Shim Sham Club in NOLA when they were touring for their first album, Wiretap Scars (I think)..
We also ran into Jim Ward in El Paso after we had played a show, and hung out with him for a little while...
Then a few days later we crashed at some super hot bartender's (sorry no pics) house in Albuquerque, NM, who just so happened to be really good friends with the guys from Sparta and ATDI, and had just come back from Jim Wards wedding.
That's my connection to Sparta..........Out of ATDI, Sparta, and Mars Volta, ATDI was the best. Glad I got the chance to catch them live before they split up.

What does that mean? TMV's last couple albums were much more tame but I don't think it had anything to do with selling records. If you knew anything about Omar and Cedric, they could give a shite about that. Omar wanted to move to a different direction and you can see that through what he's done in his solo career and Bosnian Rainbows. I don't really care for this style and prefer TMV's first 4 albums.
I never got into Sparta but they were ok. I like Jim Ward and love ATDI.

I didn't mean in the sense of selling records. They were always experimental, but I felt they went off the deep end to the point where it was near listenable, and I lost interest.

Still doesn't make sense. Do you mean unlistenable?
