Seriously, how can anyone take this guy seriously?
He is ALWAYS wrong. Yet he is ALWAYS considered reputable.

Got me. He completely blew on the conference realignment and yet once again, fools that want to believe in something follow him.

What was he wrong about? Did he ever say anything about Saban at all?
I thought he was only breaking Mack Brown news.

Welp. That was wrong. Brown staying.

There isn't one Texas insider who is coming out of this without egg on their face, they have all said at one point saban was at least close to a done deal.

Having a bit of experience with this kind of story in college football, I can tell you that there's a chance that Nick Saban was very close to becoming Texas's next head coach and it didn't work out.
Anyone who thinks Saban and Sexton and anyone else involved were waiting for Brown to be excused before seriously discussing deals are out of their mind.
If I had to bet, I'd bet that Texas was seeing if Saban would come and if he wasn't willing to leave Alabama they'd just keep Mack Brown until they found someone else.

I think this was happening and then it all went public and Mack went pissy, etc etc.

Relax. Maybe I phrased it wrong. I was talking about this particular instance. Did he ever make any claims about Saban?
I know he claimed that Mack would bow out, which may or may not happen.

Look, this whole thing sounds a lot like "Miles to Michigan". That was reported as a done deal as well. People were then backed into a corner and had to save face. Same thing here.

For all we know Texas people were telling Saban that Mack would go quietly without knowing if that was the case. When Mack told them they'd have to fire him and this all went public Saban changed his mind. I would too.
Sure you can say Mack has underachieved the last few years but he is still is one of only two coaches to get them a national title and he still won more games than anyone other than Royal at Texas.
Even if you think he should move on, you don't fire him weeks ahead of time via media leaks and already essentially name his replacement before you have actually talked to him or secured the new coach. I mean shite. Saban surely reasoned if they would treat Mack this way, how would they treat him if he wasn't an instant success?

I honestly believe this was an internal power play at Texas. Mack's camp which included Powers and Dodds and a shitload of old money boosters and they were up against the "new money" camp that wanted Mack out.
Chip got his info from the "new money" camp. I think those guys fed bottom feeders like Chip, Orangebloods, etc.. the Mack resignation story and also the Saban offer story. When that started to fail and Mack dug in they upped the ante and had Kirk Bohls of the Austin American Statesman write the story this week that Mack Brown should go to turn the heat way up.
When the new money guys couldn't get Saban interested the wheels came off their wagon. Mack's camp dug in and they won. I think there was a hell of an internal battle among high level boosters. Lots of hard feelings and some really nasty shite went on.
The old guard at Texass won this battle. It really wasn't about Saban, it was about who controls the athletic department. It was coup in ever sense of the word.

Any big name, established HC will be foolish to walk into the train wreck at Texas. And they have no one to blame but themselves.

How about Jesus Shuttlesworth? Or McPhaul?
