Woodcock hunting in Sherburne WMA

Has anyone done this before? I've never hunted woodcock and never hunted a WMA. I was thinking about going because I have a good GSP that I would enjoy seeing work woodcock. I have no idea how to hunt them, if they are any good to eat, etc. I spoke to another GSP owner from MI who hunts them in WMA's in KS (along with grouse) and it sounds like fun. Any input would be appreciated. What should I bring, how many people show up out there (how crowded), access, ATV, clothing, etc...

Can be very crowded, certain sports on that WMA have very heavy hunting pressure. You need briar chaps, a beeper collar or bell for the dog.
Look for cover that a rabbit would be found in, that is moist but not swampy. The woodcock are feeding on worms...

It is crowded, no doubt about it. Sherburne used to be the place but has gone downhill some with the habitat progression of many of the bird holding areas. With that being said, there are birds to be killed there at times. Have to think outside of the box though. Woodcock can stack up in very small areas, sometimes in the places you would least expect them, especially in heavily pressured areas.
Have run into people from all over the country on Sherburne that made the trek down here to chase birds
