All these hypes on Jennings was great, but do you still remember 08 Chick Bowl?

Where JJ was still a true freshman and lit the defense on fire in the GA Tech Game, and people were starting to compare him to Jamarcus Russell with all the sky high expectations...and we all knew how the story of JJ ended up with.
I am not trying to compare Anthony Jennings to JJ (cause in my deep heart, I know Jennings is way better) and I am excited about his future being our QB as much as anyone in here. But ever since the whole JJ drama, I cannot help but tend to take a precautionary approach on raising my expectation of a freshman dual-threat QB before I get to watch him play extensively and how he reacts under pressure (which Jennings kinda already proved). It's all likely that Jennings will come out ready to show the world that he is our future QB and life will be great. But what if he doesn't? What if he drops the ball big time in this bowl game? How many of you would freak out and start calling for the backups and how many of you would keep faith in him? What will be your thoughts on him then?

Only difference is Jennings is faster than JJ and has a better arm. JJ was a running QB that just was not that fast(regardless of what people think).

I tried to point out this same thing yesterday. I was just called a racist and a negatiger.

too many "ifs"
Well there wasn't a whole lot of "ifs" for JJ after the 08 Bowl game, and he turns out to be the biggest "if" we have discussed the past four years.

then he's a young player that still has time to develop. just let it play out.

I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today. Jennings is promising but still unproven. Hope he has a great career as a Tiger.

How long do you really think people will keep a cool head and not freak out and start calling out Miles for starting a true freshman and petitioning for the other "backup" QB?

You people are legitimately fricking crazy. Jefferson completed something like 16 passes for 142 yards in that game. He made a couple of athletic plays and we ran the ball at will on them.

Here are his stats for that game: 10 rushes for 25 yards, 16/25 for 142 yards passing. OK, but certainly not Manziel-like numbers.

Yes, but he was a true freshman and starting for the first game by then, and the potential he showed in that game is hard to be overlooked and not get pumped. And how did it end up?
Jennings may as well do the same thing in this year's bowl game, and I bet you it will be very difficult for anyone, including me, to keep a cool head and not raise the expectation on him even though the JJ drama was just around the corner.

Tigerdew I know for a fact you looked that up because those numbers are exact. lol...Anyways yea his numbers were not that good. Not even 9 yards a completion should tell the story about the pass plays called. Compare that to 16 yards per completion for Mett this year.

Speaking of JJ, I could have sworn that I saw him on campus a couple of days ago.
It was wither him or his fricking twin walking out of the Subway in Foster Hall.

Watching that video I forgot that team had that much talent on it. If only we had a good DC that year

I am no scout but throwing screens does not mean potential to me. EVERY qb in college can hit that the majority of the time.

Saw him using the Gym at UREC the other day. Heard he is back to be a part time student now.
