This movie was a downward spiral, through the eyes of the villain. I really did enjoy this movie and I'm looking forward to the book.

This is my problem with people like you. You think that if you don't like a movie, it sucks.
this is a problem I have with you people!
think food, I like food, you like food
we like chocolate
we like hamburgers
we like pizza
I say I like sushi
I like it, you don't...you say "not my thing"
You say I like a good crawfish boil
You like it, I don't....I say, corn and potatos okay, but not a fan of crawfish
those are normal tastes, and the fights aren't big
now...You say "monkey brain tar tar with raw quail egg puree is the most delicious dish in the world"
I get pissed the frick off because I try it and it disgusts the frick out of me, and you claim that it's because I am not cultured enough or don't have the refined taste to appreciate the gameness of raw brains.
Things taste good or they don't
fast and furious--eye candy
forest gump--feel good
friday the 13th--scary
wtf does there will be blood offer you? you have to make up reasons why you liked it.....like wine snobs...."hint of oak, a tingle of raspberry"...uh, it's fermented grape jackass.

I think I see what you did there . Idk man, finals are jamming me up pretty hard but my last one is next Wednesday so I'll be looking to hit the bars before everyone goes home for the break.

I'm not saying you have to like it. If you don't enjoy slower paced, character driven dramas than you most likely won't, but don't act like it's a piece of shite movie just because you don't appreciate that kind of film.

what was the good part? which course of this prix fixe meal was I supposed to enjoy?

lol I hope you're kidding. It's crazy to think there are people that can't even imagine a movie being art.

Hit the nail on the head there. Thank you.

Congrats. You don't have any taste and very little depth.

I think the movie is utter crap as well. It's not character driven, as the characters go nowhere, and are in the same place they started. It's not plot driven, as nothing really happens. It's not emotionally driven, as every character is too distant to care about. It's also, most damningly, the only movie in which DDL has ever repeated himself. Usually, his characters are made out of whole cloth from scratch... here, he just played Bill the Butcher a second time. Very disappointing role from our greatest living actor.
It's three hours of pretty pictures of Marfa while Greenwood noodles atonely on his keytar.
How dare someone not like this movie? Why, it won awards! It must be good! For I'm incapable of having my own opinions!

The movie wasn't for me. Nothing happened the entire movie.

I enjoyed the scenery and screenplay. DDL played a perfect sociopath alpha male that wanted nothing but money and power. The movie was the story of how it happened. Stepping all over people and thinking nothing of it. I don't see the similarities between the butcher and the oilman. the butcher was a patriot and a gangster, but generally treated folks around him with respect.
oilman, to me, was a far scarier character than the butcher because those types exist (I think I may work for one )
