The misconception with Dual Threat, run first, and a mobile QB (kinda long)

I have seen constantly how people keep thinking that when we say we like a mobile QB, that we want a running back under center or a dual threat. When we say mobile, we mean somebody who can escape the sack and either make a play (by running or passing) or not take a sack. Four out of the past five years, our OL has been mediocre to atrocious. A mobile QB gets out of those jams and it is why they are so successful to go along with their accuracy. Accuracy and mobility are a dangerous combination for a QB because he is prepared for any situation.
Mobile NFL QBs are
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees
Andy Dalton
Andrew Luck
Ryan Tannehill
Ben Roesthlisberger
College mobile QBs are
Aaron Murray
Jameis Winston
Bryce Petty
Teddy Bridgewater
Blake Bortles
Keith Price
These guys are pass first, run only when there's no choice, or a great opening. Jennings ran twice when it was his best option. He looked down field and threw to two different TEs, Landry, Boone, and Dural. How many times have you thought "Mett run, two easy yards for the first"?
Jamarcus and Flynn were the same way, do you not remember those guys? Being mobile does not equal being JJ. You guys have got it so deeply implanted into your brain that you are literally terrified of that happening again and you can't believe people want it.
Lynch, Manziel, Mariota, Taysom, Miller are dual threat QBs. Keith Marshall, Kennan Reynolds, Daniel Sams, and Cody Gautsche are running QBs.
I mean for goodness sakes people, McCarron has scored on us by running and ran for first down on us in 3rd down situations. That little bit was for the people who think Bama is winning because McCarron is somehow not mobile. He's not very mobile, but he's good enough to escape and has scored 3 TDs rushing in his career.
TL;DR being mobile does not mean run first, pass second, inaccurate, stupid. Some of the best QBs ever have been accurate and mobile. Mobility with accuracy is the most dangerous mix for a QB.

Well, that's the report on Jennings coming out of high school. Even though he had wheels, he was much more of a passer at that level & just had that natural ability/escapability(sic) to make plays with his feet too.

I love how on here being black + not a statue = MUST BE SECOND COMING OF JJ

Cam Cameron May just be the factor in making Jennings a pass first run second type of QB. It really kind of showed tonight he only ran when he had to.

Certainly!
I just wanted to head off any misconception by those who didn't follow his recruitment. He was definitely a "throw first" guy in high school.

the perfect qb is one who goes with the designed play and when he feels pressure he then takes off. i feel like jennings fits that mold. manziel was a different style. it was like watching him play flag football. he would just start running around in the backfield waiting for someone to create separation and then throw or run.

Tony Romo is more mobile than any of the above. He has more escapability than Roger Staubach had, and almost as much as Fran Tarkenton.
Just sayin'. Carry on.

I cringed that first play he ran. Looked at his first option and then hightailed it.
Was pretty worried then he came back on that last drive poised to the bone. Never saw that coming.

For 58 minutes, Romo is better than most.

there was a 3rd down today where mett could have literally walked for a first down on 3rd and 5

I loved the way that Jennings brought us back. His mobility is nice to see. That being said, his arm strength looked nowhere near Mett's...I guess I have gotten spoiled by how Mett could sling it.
Anyway...

it's not, but the ball looked to jump out of his hand on the TD pass.

Yep, there's a reason that every single commentator this year has mentioned Mett's arm strength...he can zip the living hell outta' that ball!

dual threats in College can be very dangerous
but they have a difficult time transferring that talent to the NFL

Kennings is already better and more polished than anybody on that list. You are wasting our time.

You will see very few with the arm strength of Mett. Jennings has all the arm he needs to make the throws.

You have been spoiled but Jennings threw the ball 50 yards in the air with touch, right into Dural's hands. He doesn't have a laser, but he's definitely got a better arm than most suspected.
