I'm not blaming Monty for not calling a timeout, but we definitely should have taken a shot with 15 or so seconds left instead of 4.
Even if we miss, you foul Golden State and get another chance to tie.
That's not even debatable, IMO.

Quite debatable. Monty played for the win. Might not be your choice, but it's just as valid.
You want to jack up a shot down by 1 in 10 seconds? I'd rather run a set to get a good shot, which they did. Gordon was the 3rd option on the play. He was wide open. He just missed the shot.
He makes the shot, this is not a conversation at all. No one says "should have called a timeout." This is the ultimate results over process cliche.

How is trying to score earlier in the possession not playing for the win?

Im not a monty fan but I dont mind him letting it play out. We got a wide open shot that should have went down but didn't
Agree for the most part. But down 1 you need to leave at little time in case you miss. Even if they make 2 FTs you still have 2-3 seconds for a second chance.

I hate EG but trading cause of that shot is insane.
Playing for win is what you pay him for. Just didn't knock it down.
Monty is blaming himself right now on postgame.

It is. They are both valid strategies. Blaming Monty for a strategy that didn't work because a wide open shot for the 3rd option on a play rimmed out is dumb.
