Haha. The team defensively gets better with Holiday on the floor and worse with Tyreke on the floor and the numbers prove that
They play different positions and Jrue plays his minutes with better defensive players around him. It's not that simple.

Who would you sign with this cap space Jrue is eating up?

We probably could have afforded to spend $3.5M of it on Oden.

Based on the multiple rumored attempts to get Brandon Jennings in the past, I think you probably end up getting Jennings. But that was a S&T so you probably lose Vasquez in the process at the least. And when that happens I think it gets really complicated because you probably lose Tyreke. So it's not even just about Jrue vs. 2 picks and cap space. Evans and Bought In Gordon are part of the equation too.

Vasquez is playing less, too. Feel free to compare them objectively.
I did. I didn't say anything about Vasquez while he is playing for the Kings. It is comparing Vasquez while he was playing in New Orleans. That's why it says "(and about 3 less than Vasquez did last season)"

That is why you look at similar lineups when trying to compare. There is never a perfect science to it, but when Evans is on the floor with the 1st team they are worse than when Aminu is on the floor.
But, with Tyreke now working with Anderson on the second team they are playing better all around basketball. It is encouraging.

I would still hate the idea of having Noel. He has a bad knee, is seriously lacking in the weight department, and has no offensive game. That would be frustrating to watch.

Last night the +/- numbers for the bench were incredible (Rivers was like a +65 in efficiency)- the starters meh. Obviously a very, very small sample size, but a nice role reversal for one night at least.

Don't get what is the fascination with Noel. Because his first name sounds like an idiot's pronunciation of New Orleans?
A better course of action would've been to draft Trey Burke instead. Or take MCW for ourselves. And still do the sign n trade with the Kings for Reke.

There's a reason Noel slid that far down the board. A lot of NBA GM's think the guy might have constant medical issues. He might develop into a solid defender but I think too many people on here have him in the Duncan, Robinson, Olajuwon, Mourning range of centers and that will never happen.
That said, I was lukewarm on the trade when it happened and still somewhat iffy. I don't think it was a bad trade. I understand what the Pelicans are trying to accomplish and it isn't easy to find a good point guard.

People were excited about the potential for a Block Party. Anthony Davis says he doesn't need the help.

I think it's iffy you could have sold Reke on coming without Jrue. He said Holiday and Gordon being here helped him pick the Pelicans. That certainly could just be player speak, but if he sees one of his positions as PG, would he really sign up to come off the bench behind a rookie?

I've always thought speculation that carved out the Jrue trade alone wasn't realistic. I always thought it was part of the bigger picture.

It was much more even or in favor of Philly than most on here wanted to act like at the time. There was such a strong contingent of "LOL WE GOT AN AS FOR AN INJURED GUY AND A PICK THAT WON'T MATTER."
Jrue's a nice player, and I don't think the deal will be a total loss for us, but it wasn't the slam dunk deal many made it out to be.

Yeah, that's a fair point.

It was an okay deal for both teams. There's an outside shot at it being a solid win for the Sixers if somehow Noel develops into Dikembe Mutombo but I think that's pretty much his ceiling. The other pick will probably be close to double digits if not tenth or worst. The percentage of players in that range that develop into anything but bench players is low.

If it ends up being a top 10 pick and Holiday continues to be mediocre, then it's bad news.
top 10 picks aren't really worth that much, even in great drafts

Noel is going to be the next Hilton Armstrong....I know thats awesome and all but we win no matter what. He's gonna be terrible in NBA. He got worked by JOBIII last year.

Plenty of people would call him an All-Star by default.
On a team with no other players to produce and in the Eastern Conference with inferior PG play as a comparison.

More like +10 but still really good lol.
Putting that into perspective, Davis was +0, Evans +12, Anderson +18.

He kind of was. Rose, Wall and Rondo were out injured. D. Williams just wasn't that great anymore. So Irving and Holiday made the team, cause they were the next best PGs. It's funny when guys say it on here, cause there is like no chance he makes the team in the West. He is maybe the 5th or 6th best PG in the West (Paul, Westbrook, Paul, Lawson, Lillard, Conley or Holiday?). There would have to be massive injuries for him to make it now..
