Court system isn't gonna help you or put him out of business. Best thing to do is go get your money back and post on every forum you can

This may not be the quickest solution, but ... Call his bank and find out exactly the issue with the check. If he just stopped payment, this only lasts 6 months. If the account is still open in 6 months and he doesn't pay for stop payment again, the check will become active.
If the account doesn't exist anymore, you're stuck.
