Sam shoulda been smoking with starters, just gave the Texans an easy way out to get rid of three scrubs.
So smoke weed( allegedly) = violation of team rules and cut.
Do steroids, get popped, six game suspension and welcome back kid! Glad Kubiak won't compromise his integrity.

If I had millions of dollars it would be hard not to buy pounds of weed . These players work their asses off, let them toke when they get home
That's not the argument.
Would you give up millions of dollars just to "toke" when you got home if not "toking" was one of the stipulations of you being able to keep your millions?

Houston radio says the 3 were smoking a cigar, not Weed. I live in Houston and this has been the story all day on talk radio
Well here is where you have to separate fact from fiction. First what do you think the players that just got kicked off the team are going to say. Second do you think that the coaches would literally kick players off the team for smoking a cigar. Third you had better believe management and coaches have their ducks in a row because of the NFLPA and the grievances that would be filed if they did something they were not allowed to do.

Some people really struggle with basic common sense.

Ahhhhh someone with a brain that actually gets it. Not discussing the legalities or issues with weed. It is all about what your employer says you can and can't do to stay employed with them. You listen to the rules, you stay employed. You don't listen to the rules and get caught and you get fired. Where is that different in any line of work.

If I were a professional athlete I'd be paying very close attention to what I put in my body.

How childish of the Texans. What other harmless vices does the Texans morality police disapprove of?

Sam and the players are insinuating that it was a cigar, but do you expect them to admit to smoking weed if they want another job?
Unfortunately Dr. Shultz you are actually asking some of these posters to see beyond the nose on their faces, don't expect miracles to happen that often!!!

What a fricking idiot if true. You have millions on the line and you chose to get high. You also do it at the team hotel and not in your home. I have no remorse for him

Seriously are you that fricking stupid. If your employer says "DON'T DO THIS" or you will lose your job. How stupid does one have to be to risk it. It is not about whether weed is right or wrong, it is about what your employer states you can or can not do to keep your job.
The bigger statement should be. How childish is Montgomery for risking his career to smoke a blunt.
Here is what you should be thinking. If your employer says I will pay you $3mil dollars for 4 years work but during those 4 years you can't smoke any weed. Would you take the deal?
The answer from you depends on how much you value weed and how much you value money.

They apparently do. Which is why they choose to smoke dried plant leaves which are fairly harmless and possibly therapeutic.

It's just weed.
No it is not just about being weed dumb-arse. It is about breaking team rules, or the better way to describe it. It is doing what your employer has stated you can not do if you want to keep your job!!!!
Weed was just the rule they broke, not why weed is the rule that is a totally different subject
