I'm one of the ones that likes all of Incubus's albums. shite, I like Brandon Boyd's new side project Sons of the Sea.
Same here. Granted SCIENCE was not the first stuff I heard from Incubus.
I even think SCIENCE is a great album - but my favorite is Morning View, then A Crow Left of the Murder.
ACLOTM is their best album, musically. The instrumentation on that album is like none other. Check out Sick Sad Little World.
I've only heard a couple songs from Sons of the Sea, but you know whose solo shite I do love? BEN KENNEY.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E was a great album as well as Make Yourself. Saw Incubus when they opened for 311 in 2000 at the River Center. Great band live. I will agree with everyone, they got pretty soft after Make Yourself though.

ACLOTM has it's moments, but certainly was a clear decline from what the sound use to sound like IMO.
Really each album got less raw/punkish and more mellow/alternative.
The last album they released wasn't even worth a full listen IMO.

I was there. Incubus stole the show that night. And yes, SCIENCE was great, but I can't bring myself to listen to their newer stuff
As was I. I remember some of the Sugar Ray guys were sick with the flu or something, and they stop between songs to go punk off stage. They come right back and continued with their set.
That was a great concert. A guy in the row next to me got so stoned, then passed out, and woke up at one point during 311's set, and asked his buddy "Did they play down yet?"

I hate Incubus and always have. I made fun of my friends so much in middle/high school for listening to that bullcrap. These days they acknowledge I was right.
You're just a hipster. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was a really good album. I don't care for Incubus, but that was a good album.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E was great but Make Yourself was their masterpiece. Incubus at their best.

Probably in the minority, but Morning View is my favorite incubus album...honestly one of my favorite albums ever, never really get tired of it. Everything after A Crow Left of the Murder was pretty bad though...I haven't bought anything from them since Light Grenades.

This guy too. I don't understand the hate for them. They put out much better music than most other bands today. Never did get into their latest album, though. I like his solo album "the wild trapeze" a lot, too.

Morning View, to me, is their best work. It flows so well, sounds so original, every song is so different. Nice to Know You, Warning, Just a Phase, Echo, Circles, Under My Umbrella, Are You In, 11am...and I could name every song because they all are amazing.
All of my friends who love Incubus feel Morning View is the best as well.
My list:
#1. Morning View
#2. ACLOTM
#3. Make Yourself
#4. SCIENCE
#5. Light Grenades
#6. If Not Now, When?
#7. Fungus Amongus

I think a person's musical tastes determines which they like better in a case like Incubus. Their albums are so different, especially the ones made with Dirk and the ones made after Dirk. Fungus Amongus and Morning View could be two totally different bands.

Yep. Seems like the older crowd leans toward Fungus Amongus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E (I know there are exceptions) bc of the more grungy/punk/garage band feel of them...which is how rock was at the time. I'm a little younger and think Morning View is their best...in much the same way I think Californication is one of RHCP's best (my personal favorite). Just a generational thing IMO.

Yep. Me and my friends (all 21-24ish) think Incubus's later stuff is superior to Fungus Amongus whereas old school fans think we're all pussies.
Also, By the Way and Californication are my top RHCP albums.

I'm 24, sounds like you are too, or near it at least.

I am 33 and I think you are right. Fungus and S.C.I.... are just more my cup of tea.
They were much more funky albums and Morning View was just so radio blah.....Brandon with his hair blowing in the wind. I liked him better when he looked like a heroin junky.

fixed it for you.
Fungus and SCIENCE were some really high energy albums.
Then they did get a more radio friendly sound. I don't think the music fell off until after ACLOTM though personally.
Morning View has some excellent frickin tracks on there. I do agree it was too much of Bboyd with his shirt off.

While it was more radio friendly, I don't in any way think they sold out or purposely strived for a "radio sound." I just think they got a little older, a little more mellow, and a little more polished as musicians. Growth - a sign of a good band. That's why I appreciate their funky roots and their newer stuff (much like the RHCP) because they are just good musicians trying/achieving new things.
