I would consider it only if they would agree to line item veto. Essentially each new law should be passed on its own merits and not passed or agreed upon against the better judgment of the majority in trade for the inclusion of another bill on the same docket.
Oh wait....

shite was much simpler when young bucks could borrow a few goats and put them on their high school's roof for shits and giggles. I shutter to think how it will be 10, much less 20 years from now.
Things have certainly changed in a short period of time. I remember when having a rifle or shotgun in your truck to go hunting after school was common. Now you would make national news.

Exactly. It was literally 20 years ago that I was driving to high school and would hunt after school on a regular basis.

NO,NO,NO,.I don't care what riders you attach to gun control the government can't be trusted to limited control. NEVER ,NEVER give an inch on gun control. It's not about gun control, it's people control
What the frick does Obama care have to do with gun control? You want to trade one freedom for another???

Taxing the hell out of ammunition would bring in a lot money shocked they haven't done this to replace the vanishing tobacco tax money that paid for SCHIP

For example, I would be fine with expanded background checks if we could legally purchase a fully automatic weapon, provided we pass said background checks.
What exactly is an "expanded" background check though? Does that mean they also have to do a check on your family members or your best friends?
If you're referring to the purposely-named "universal backgground checks" you must not realize that it is only enforceable by an all out registration. How would they be able to know if you actually had an NICS check to pass down that old 1911 to your son? Unless it's registered they won't have a clue, thus making the "universal" checks entirely worthless. And if we can't enforce the laws we already have, I see no reason why we should stack the already-stacked books.
And I don't just say no to registration... I say HELL no. While Obamacare may destroy this country, I will not budge on a constitutional right. If the SHTF and I'm left with very little, that gun could be the difference between me living or dying. And I know this statement makes me sound like a nutjob but just think about Louisiana post-Katrina. It is entirely possible.
The 48 hour rule I maybe could live with if it happened during the work week. But not on the weekend.

I think you should have to pass a basic safety course before purchasing a firearm. Maybe it could be a certification that lasts five years. I bought my first one with extremely little experience. I was smart enough to get some training though. It made me think how many people don't get training who had the same amount of experience as I did.

That doesn't mean that everyone who buys a gun is inept though.
Sure, it takes some skill to shoot. But for a gun salesman to look someone in the eye and say "I don't think you have the right to defend yourself until you get trained" would be ridiculous.

No, but I think it is reasonable for someone to have to take a couple hour course on how to handle a firearm before purchasing. A little education goes a long way and this would be a small sacrifice.

Just as ridiculous to look into someone's eye and say "hey, you know what you're doing." I'm not saying lets go give the gov't all our personal info. I'm saying lets sacrifice 2-3 hours a couple times in our lives to help increase the amount of firearm education in our society.

This is where we disagree.

That's fine. I just don't like to assume too much.

This country would be way better off if only literate contributors could vote.

Obamacare will fail with or without congressional support given the current state of economics in this country and how bad the populace has taken the "recovery" where it matters in their wallet. But gun registration will never happen. If they plan on doing that I will be buying a frickTON of guns and ammo before 1-1-14
