You're wrong. I'll link it after I eat.

I said that from day one on here. It's been a shame that this kid will be never be a big part of this team going forward. He would have a been a hoss in the middle.

Ill do it for you.

So a guy that is a big RB, but a soft RB that goes down way too easy and sometimes shies away from contact(especially last year), would of been a hoss in the middle?? RIght right
Im sure he was a good LB in high school. But, again, these big time high school recruits would dominate every position in high school. Hilliard was a RB, but he could of played DE, DT, LB, S, RB, QB, WR, TE, OL and would of dominated whoever he went up against most of the time, unless up against another big time recruit. In college, and especially in the SEC, the guys that they go up against are just as big or bigger of a freak than they are. Its hard.
Theres a reason Kenny is at RB and not LB. And theres also a reason why he isnt getting a lot of PT.

Yeah I was scrolling through that. He had like 15-20 tackles in the dome one year. Maybe he was a defensive MVP or something like that. Obviously he wasn't all state at lb. he should have been though. I caught enough Patterson games to see him play it enough. He was their mike on every defensive snap of the playoffs. He looked as good there as offense.
I can admit I was wrong, can you? Have you seen him play lb? I have. A bunch. He was elite.

you really think he runs soft?

Yea sure I can. But im not wrong about anything in this thread. And what am i supposed to be wrong about??
Did I ever say Hilliard wasnt a good LB in high school?? No. Im sure he was.
Does that mean he would of been a great MLB in the SEC?? No. It doesnt.
Im sure he dominated 3A high school football at LB. He was the biggest freak on the field at all times. But that doesnt mean he would be a stud in the SEC at LB. Thats like saying Im sure Eugene or Lamar Louis would be 1 of our best RBs on the team. They both played RB in high school, and both were really really good and all state players too.
But, theres a reason they arent playing RB. Just like theres a reason Hilliard is on offense.

Yeah ok. Agree to disagree. Hilliard could have been an all American lb IMO.

For his size, yes. Hes the biggest RB on the team weight wise. But also goes down the easiest. If he would run like Spencer Ware did he would be great. He doesnt run behind his pads at all. With his size, he should be plowing people over. But he doesnt.
Sure, he breaks some tackles that 190lbs DBs try to make on him. But that doesnt mean he runs physical. And there were multiple times last year on goal line where, instead of putting his head down and running through people into the endzone, he would be standing straight up or turning his back to people.
Hilliard has the talent to be a big time RB. I dont know if he has the mindset. I want him to run like hes pissed off with his hair on fire. He did that a few times freshman year. Hasnt done it since.

LOL. Ok. Russell Shepard could of been a Heisman Trophy winner at QB too.
Do you really think that the coaches dont have him at the right position?? The same coaching staff that a lot of people think is 1 of the best in all of college football??
Or are you just pissed that Hilliard hasnt turned out to be that good at RB?? And youve seen him play LB so you think our coaches made a mistake by putting him at RB instead of LB because he dominated 3A high school football at LB.
Posted on 9/5/13 at 7:03 pm to KG5989
Maybe that's why people think of Hilliard as a what if regarding lb. at least anyone who has ever seen him play it.
Posted on 9/5/13 at 7:04 pm to KG5989
Nah more like coaches and scouts opinions. You obviously never saw him in the dome. Just admit you're basing your opinion off of something you've never seen.
Posted on 9/5/13 at 7:07 pm to Tiger Ryno
He likely doesn't commit to LSU if we don't let him run the ball.
Posted on 9/5/13 at 7:07 pm to KG5989
Why would I be pissed at Hilliard riding the bench? I called the Magee breakout a long time ago. Do some research.
Posted on 9/5/13 at 7:08 pm to BigEdLSU
Oh i can handle a what if he played at LB, hypothetically speaking. Sure. Eugene and Louis could be good RBs in college too.
But, you said Hilliard could be an All American LB.
No ive seen him play a couple of times. He was a damn good LB. I was at the redemptorist vs Patterson game where he shut down Hill.
So, you trust scouts / high school coaches more than you trust LSUs coaches?? The coaches that have been with him through his enitre collegiate football career?? Also, John Chavis is 1 of the best LB coaches of all time. And hes seen him everyday for multiple years on the football field.
Again, there is a reason hes at RB and not at LB. And theres also a reason why hes not playing that much at RB.
Magee has nothing to do with Hilliard. If you did some research too, you would see I called Magee breaking out some time ago too. But saying Hilliard would be an All American at LB is absurd.
And your basing your argument off of what he did against 3A high school football. Most of the OL in high school are the same size as HIlliard, around 245-250lbs. Im sure he dominated them. Doesnt mean he would be able to go up against some of the top OL in the nation in college.

I think it's more about what some perceive as a lack of motor/toughness/mean-streak than just physical ability to play a position.
