I like his upside more than Tanner. He doesn't play special teams, though, and I don't know that I'd want him playing over Toon or Stills. Maybe Payton is just worried about the lack of experience at WR if Colston or Moore get hurt.

I can't help but think he's signing for a day to retire a Saint. He's broken.

Nice knowing you Tanner.

I may not be Tanner that goes. It may be Cadet or Robinson.

Plan for the Week
Step 1: Vilma on IR with the option to return.
Step 2: Sign Meach to a 1 day retiring contract.
Step 3: Sign an OLB with the open roster spot.
Step 4: Kick Atlanta's arse and make Mike Smith pull a hammy.

Makes lots of little senses.

I thought he had a body? What good is he now?

Not officially official, but still.
I dont really understand this at all. Off the top of my head I'm guessing this means either Cadet or Tanner will be cut to make room.

Saints agreed to terms with WR Robert Meachem, formerly of the Chargers.
It doesn't appear the deal is "officially official," but it should be in short order. In theory, Meachem fills a need as the deep threat the Saints lost when Joe Morgan went down for the season, but to say his recent play has been discouraging would be an understatement. Going on 29, Meachem appears to have lost a good deal of his signature deep speed. He was so bad for the Chargers last season, they were willing to eat $5 million guaranteed and release him at final cuts. Perhaps reuniting with Sean Payton and Drew Brees will be what the doctor ordered, but never a fantasy dynamo even before his dismal 2012, Meachem is off the re-draft radar.

a guy who is intimately familiar with our system who is a big play threat when playing with drew. A guy drew trusts...and we get him for a minimum...love it!

Very minimum I'm guessing, seeing as SD is paying $5 million of his tab.

That's if he's physically up to it. I mean, either his body isn't up to it anymore, or Payton looked at SD and was like "Lol, wut? That's not how you use him!"

Just the other day, I mentioned the coaching staff's deference towards veterans.
