I would rather not get stuck on the long bridge again. I'm not saying its faster but once you are on the bridge you are stuck on it. 190'eliminates this

As long as you avoid that city cop posted on 49 right north of Opelousas.

I think they fund their whole department off that trap.

I have taken 71 from 190 and gone to Bunkie and gotten on 49 from there. About 3 people use that highway now so you can go about as fast as you want.

You can do this but you will be getting a souvenir from the St. Landry SO somewhere in between Krotz Springs and Lebeau if you go as fast as you want. Would not recommend speeding down 71.

I think the OP (a) just got his driver's license, (b) has no basic knowledge of geography, (c) has never been out of Baton Rouge when his daddy wasn't driving, and (4) has never been laid.

Nobody is that stupid. Nobody. Has to be a bit.

I-10 in Houston is awful then the drive between Houston and Dallas is dreadful. Your better off flying or SHV to Dal I-20.

Au contraire, mon frère!!!

Even though I agree with the recommended "A" route, the drive from H-town to Big D is far from dreadful. If only for one reason...

Quickest way
I-10, HWY 76, HWY 190, I-49, HWY 3132, I-20

Watch for speed traps:
On half of HWY 190... Livonia, Krotz Springs, Port Barre
I-49- Washington, LA & DeSoto Ph
I-20- Waskom, TX

I'm partial to taking the huey p. to get over the river. I've found that I10 and 190 are six of one, half dowen of the other, but avoiding the congestion on the new ms river bridge is a nice headache to avoid.

I prefer 190...

Gotta stop in Krotz Springs for cracklins at Kartchner's and boudin balls at Billy's.

As a former Shreveport native living in Houston now. Avoid Houston, go via shreesburg.

Yeah I take I-10 from Monroe to Shreveport all the time. No cops, no traffic

Quickest way
I-10, HWY 190, I-49, HWY 3132, I-20 and Exit 499A to 80 and then to 30 to downtown Dallas

Watch for speed traps:
On half of HWY 190... Livonia, Krotz Springs, Port Barre
I-49- Washington, LA & DeSoto Parish
I-20- Waskom, TX

I added a couple of steps to another post. Trust me, I do this every month

Why do you need a 30 minute head start?

If you would go this route, you might as well go I-49, then go up 165 to Monroe, then take I-20 over.

I agree with Chauncey ^^ for the most part.

Definite speed traps in those places on 190. I-49 isn't too bad, just watch out from Alexandria to Natchitoches, the city. Cops sit in the median about 10-15 miles out from Natchitoches.

Before leaving Baton Rouge, research ways to get off I-20 and onto highway 80. A couple years ago, on the way back from the Oregon game, traffic on I-20 was at a standstill because of a wreck or fire or something. Highway 80 is 70mph and 4 lanes most of the way, so being prepared will help.

Baton Rouge to Dallas SHOULD take 6-7 hours max. Break the trip up if you'd like and stop along the way to eat. The Food and Drink board probably has recommendations for most decent sized towns along the way.

Wish I was going to the game! Geaux Tigers!
