To each their own and what constitutes hunting is a bit different to each individual.
I'm all for blasting invasive species like hogs and have killed dozens myself. To the extent possible I do feel an obligation to provide a quick and humane death to the animals I harvest. That was neither quick nor humane. Not a fan.
It's vids like this that the anti's just love to find...

Our ancestors hunted for subsistence, clearly the individual in the video is interested in sport. More ethical alternatives are available, besides... Does sitting over a bait pile inside of what is almost certainly a fenced enclosure really constitute hunting? Seems akin to shooting squirrels off your bird feeder to me. Wheres the sport?

Dr. Mccann must be at it again.

In the end they are all dead and YOU killed them right? Nothing is "ethical" about killing something...

Cleary since buffalo were harvested for their hides and left to rott in the fields.

I would say a spear is more "hunting" than a modern high powered rifle.

It's kinda cool I suppose, but I'd hardly call that boss. Baited, climbed a tree, dropped a spear. It's not like he was stalking on foot and then threw the spear. But to each their own I guess.

Cool video but if this were on my place I would prefer the hunter to have a semi auto scatter gun with tube extension loaded with 00 buckshot.
I could have done some damage to that little family of robbing, raping, pillaging pieces of shite.

Sure

One of my favorite pastimes

Wiltz you know I am a fan of yours, but I'm generally not concerned with method of kill or timeliness of a kill when a nuisance animal is involved.

I bet the meat is going to be great now, after it layed on the ground for 5 minutes trying to die with adreline coursing through its veins.

Should have had a shotgun with the plug out loaded with buckshot IMO

Let's not confuse words, I simply prefer quick and humane. Killing is an integral part of hunting otherwise you are simply sitting in the woods. I'll disagree and say you most certainly can be an "ethical hunter" which is most certainly different than being a "killer".

I agree with Wiltz. Just kill the Damn thing. Don't let it struggle for 5 minutes.

I dont see a difference if the quarry was a trophy whitetail or a wild hog. Maybe my "hunting spirituality" varies from others but I respect all of the animals and believe you owe it to animal to give them a quick and humane death. Just one man's opinion...

And I respect your stance. My thoughts would change if this was a high fence outfit and the guy paid to come sit behind a fence and spear a hog.
