Bo Wallace & Tyler Russell > Mett is somewhat alarming.
Bo Wallace is a Gunslinger but he did play better than Mett and played equal competition.
Russell was good til he got to LSU and that's when he fell apart. Also Bumphis was his only legit WR on that squad.
With Treadwell AND Moncrief, I fully expect Wallace to put up huge stats, on the other hand I see Russell with similar stats and maybe better his decision making.
Mett has all the physical tools. He also has Travis Dickson and highly touted Desean at TE. Lastly he now has 2 legit 6'2 or higher WRs to back up Landry and Odell and become deep threats. I fully expect him to put up monster numbers in Cam's system .

The LSU passing efficiency in 2011 number 18 in the NCAA
LOL. Yes, if you throw infrequently and even then predominantly throw short timing routes, your efficiency figures will be inflated. Unfortunately, it also means that you will have a total passing offense ranked 92 out of 120 teams and a QB who ranked 74th in passing yards per game. That's what I mean by an "atrocious" and "one sided" offense.
P.S. Also, why are you referencing 2011 when this thread is about Mettenberger, who didn't start ir play regularly until 2012?

Good. More motivation for the laid back one.....

Mett is hurt. Back injury. Has barely thrown since spring. Jenning has been doing the majority of 7 on 7..

What does throwing infrequently have to do with anything when Zack is completing 58%,with a 7.3 yard average per completion , with 12 TDs, 7 ints?
All those stats are worse, some much worse, than what we saw in 2011 when people were shitting all over the J boys.
I'm glad we have cam, but anyone thinking our offense problems are purely coaching or play calling related is kidding themself.

What has Mett actually done to warrant being on any award watch list?
Hopefully that will change this year, but he hasn't really done anything noteworthy on the field so far.

I don't understand the point of the "watch list." Seems stupid to me if any QB can win it. Doesn't have to be one of these 34.

He needs to be watching his own feet so he doesn't trip over them.

the laughable one is bo wallace

Just a little more fuel to the fire for Mett. If we don't see his best this year with: new OC, 2nd year in system, great WR's, and motivation to prove for draft, then we will never see it.

These pre-season lists are stupid anyway. Seriously.

quote:This. He has a terribly slow turn-of-foot and his timing on pass routes is atrocious. On average, he's at least 1/2 second late on his throws(that's huge) and overthrows a large % of his downfield passes. I wouldn't mind seeing Rivers, but LM is too hard headed and he'll be on the bench - even if we're getting our butts kicked. Sound familiar? Expect more of the same in 2013.

Well think about it, Okie St, Oklahoma, WVU, and Baylor are breaking in new QBs

Can we please throw the whole "Big 12 QBs only put up numbers" argument out of the window. I feel like this argument has lost speed since the S.Bradford & Colt McCoy days.

Truly no offense, but Mett doesn't belong on that list.
Let him shine this year on merit and watch lists mean jack shite.

agree, all we've heard is hype and potential, but so one game against a good team(loss,) and he is an O'Brien candidate?

I've heard this from a number of fans who are subscribers to paid sites. This would not be good.
