I've got nothing to worry about. Deal with it, Best Buy.
Those people selling it on ebay are going to be screwed if the steam codes get inactivated.

Their Facebook is hilarious right now. I imagine their twitter is too. I feel sorry for the social media team that will bear the brunt of this and didn't have a hand in the mistake.

We're using the Honor System to trust that users who redeem these codes will also purchase an NVidia graphics in the $249 to $349 range or higher.

Dude, I had a complaint against me to the BBB once. The BBB actually told me that they were willing to act as remediation in hearing the complaint just like a court but I would have to sign a contract and whatever conclusion they thought was correct I would be legally binding to it. This was over a $165K house I built.
frickers really wanted me to let them hold the hearing instead of an actual court of law.
I had my attorney send them a letter to get fricked and told the homeowner to sue me.
BTW, it was because I wouldn't repaint the inside of the customers house for free. Nothing was wrong with the paint but they thought the homeowner warranty included repainting the house within a year if they decided they didn't like the color. fricking morons!
The same moron then called the Attorney General on me for unfair business practices. The AG called me and when I explained it to them they laughed and called the guy back and told him he was a water head.
The BBB is a paid mafia that tries to force businesses into joining them and paying the fee. If you refuse they will let anyone make stupid complaints against you and try to exploit you. If you pay the fee then they make it really difficult to file a complaint and they will even help you bury the complaint if you are a paying member.
frick them!

Put my order in a 8:45 and still haven't gotten an email back with my code... Guess I'll be getting my cancellation email soon
Posted on 7/11/13 at 10:15 pm to bluebarracuda
I put in my first order at 8:22, and that was the only one that arrived, so I'm thinking I barely caught it in time.
I haven't received my cancellation emails for the others. I'm guessing Best Buy dragged a PR person out of bed to draft a blanket e-mail tonight to everyone who tried to order.

Website says sold out. I wonder if they put a stop to it or they sold all their codes

This is going to be a PR nightmare for them.
Didn't Razr honor and own up to a pricing mistake a few months back even though it ended up costing them millions?
ETA: Yep...

Razer today issued a statement via email in regards to a leaked 90 percent off coupon code for its U.K. portal that went viral, resulting in thousands of orders being placed in the span of just a couple of hours. This wasn't an authorized or approved coupon code, but one that was generated by a third party in order to test the site's shopping cart. Even so, Razer said it will honor the discounted orders that were placed.
"While we have the option of cancelling the orders legally, we’ve always had a customer comes first policy at Razer and in respect of this incident, we have decided to honor the orders that were placed using the unauthorized code by Razer fans buying single products for their own use," Razer explained in its email. "Unfortunately, as the products are being sold well below their cost, it will likely cost us an insane amount of losses to make good on the orders which will really, really hurt us as we’re still a small company - that much said, we want to do right by the community."

I've seen stuff like that before. When the companies own up to it it usually comes with large support from consumers and I even saw some people purchasing more stuff from them to help them recoup losses.
