Is "The Alternative Factor" so bad it killed the thread?

*THE ALTERNATIVE FACTOR*
Sorry guys - I was traveling and just didn't have the opportunity to keep this up.
Another episode I didn't care much for as a kid, but has grown on me. A fascinating battle - almost an internal conflict fully externalized. I still dislike the overemphasis on the dilithium crystals as a plot device in this episode, but, otherwise, I'm reasonably happy with it - and again, I appreciate Robert Brown's performance, particularly with the circumstances in which he was cast. (Trivia - Robert Lansing's real name was Robert Brown, but the actor who played Lazarus in this episode already registered the name with the Screen Actor's Guild.)
Lazarus was supposed to be played by John Drew Barrymore (yes THAT John Barrymore), but he never showed up and they had to recast the part the day of shooting.
And what about somebody else in charge of Scotty's engines?
