Stihl Weedeater won't start

It's 2 years old, used it for the first time 2 weeks ago and it took longer than usual to start but once it warmed up it was fine. Now it won't start at all. The only thing I've done differently is store it hanging (head up) for the last two weeks.
BTW, it has never had ethanol in it. Do I check the spark plug? If so, do I just take it out, plug it in to the wire and see if it fires when I pull the cord?

It won't spark if it isn't grounded. You have to touch the electrode to the block while pulling it.

check to make sure its getting gas, check to make sure it has spark. try starting fluid. need to narrow down problems

Take it apart and clean it

And make sure you didn't spill any gas on the block.

9/10 times when a stihl weedeater or blower won't start, the primer bulb is shot and its sucking air. Those things deteriorate very easily. I used to buy them 10 at a time and change them at least once a year.

Mine wouldn't start a few months ago and I was hanging it like he is. It ended up having to be cleaned because something was leaking. I haven't taken it apart because it was under warranty at the time. But you should be able to pull off the white housing and poke around.

Do yourself a favor and don't hang it up anymore. Used to do this with mine, it would give me shite fits to start every time.

It definitely doesn't help and usually makes any weedeater a pain in the arse to start.

I have several Stihl power tools and love them. One thing I have found though. If you're going to store it for a while, empty out the gas.
Not that Stihl is unique in that.

Thanks guys. If there's gas on the block when I pull it I'll post pics.

We've all done that, but we probably shouldn't admit such things.
