6 of the their first 13 runs in Omaha were unearned.
Instead of saying they were the best, I would say they were the least bad.

They got the trophy. That's how you keep score.

Truth....We would have had at least 4 or 5 homeruns i think...probably more! Now i am done..On to next year!!

True, but the CWS is at TD Ameritrade now.

Yep, If LSU would have mixed in some situational baseball, they could have competed better, but lack of CWS experience in TDA hurt them. If they would move runners with the dreaded bunt, the pop ups turn into sacrifice flies and possibly 1-2 more runs. I hate reliving it, and plan on moving on at some point, but I miss the good old days of seeing HR hitters square up on numbers high fast balls and giving it a ride.
UCLA played that park like a fiddle, but they clearly were the best defensive team in the CWS. Their defense alone earned them the wins. Their small ball offense fit right in with the game plan and there you have it.
Next year, 2014: The Year of the bunt!!!

LSU didn't compete better because they made mistakes in the field that gave UCLA two unearned runs in a 2-1 loss and they lacked timely hitting in a four to two loss after getting double digits hits to go with six walks.
UCLA pitching and our mistakes did us in more than anything else.

In 39 games in TDA this season, there were only 8 home runs.

It's not just homers. There were 34 total extra base hits in the entire CWS.

really going out on a limb

Believe me, sometimes the obvious NEEDS to be stated on this site. Especially when it comes to reasons why our Tigers do not win it all EVERY year. Some posters think we are ALWAYS the better team with the best coaches but other factors always play into our undoing. A very small faction mind you, but vocal none the less.

113 for the season in 39 games. In 2531 ABs.

So?
We win the first game 1-0 if not for LSU mistakes in the field and we have men all over the bases in the second game but plate only two because we couldn't get a timely single when needed to score more.
Are there less HRs in this park---yes, but we loss because we booted the ball around and couldn't get a timely single.

So, I think you read way too much into my stat post.

If you watched the CWS...yes there weren't homeruns...but teams put base-runners on - outside of against UCLA (hell even UCLA had teams get guys on base despite everyone scoring less than 1 run against UCLA). Contact was being made, players were hitting the ball - getting hits - getting on base.
If you can't move the runners along, that's on you not getting it down in timely situations (like in ALL of baseball), not the park.

I did. I saw guys squaring up mistake pitches and watch them get caught on the warning track.
If you can't grasp my point, that's on you, not my point.
