fwiw he didn't kill Zod in Superman II

it sure as shite seems like he did, but there's a deleted scene where they're picked up by some police council or some shite.

Richard Donner says in the Donner Cut of Superman II that Zod and his henchmen DIE. This supposed deleted scene, if it even exists, is not canon and therefore does not count.

Sure...but if it takes a deleted scene in the Donner cut to show they didn't die, then it stands to reason anyone else would have assumed that a fall into a deep, dark, icy crevasse would likely end poorly for our villains. Supes does not get a pass because of shitty editing...

Did they fall on pillows?

Until I had heard about the removed scene, I always assumed, even as a kid in the theater, that all three died. I was ok with it, because frick them.
