Jordan Zakarin of Buzzfeed, being a genius, asked disaster expert Charles Watson and his crew at Watson Technical Consulting andKinetic Analysis Corp. to prepare estimates. Watson’s conclusion: Superman’s battle killed 129,000 people and injured 1 million, an impact on the scale of the nuclear attack on Nagasaki. It caused $750 billion in physical damage; 9/11, by contrast, caused $55 billion in physical damage. (The damage to Manhattan in “The Avengers” is estimated at around $160 billion.) It adds up to total damage on the order of $2 trillion:

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about, haven't seen man of steel yet. I'm guessing there is a pretty big battle scene though

Thanks for the spoiler alert. I just saw this today but had no idea there'd be a huge battle at the end. Boy was a surprised!

Without Superman...
6.5 billion dead
Property damage - $0.00 What? currency in any form no longer exists.

So insignificant in relation to all human life being exterminated.
Could he have flown to to a desert? Sure. Pretty boring fight though for a movie.

this. It seems like a simple point but one people keep missing.
What I do think though is that they should have at least tried to show him moving the battle or doing something to save some lives (just to help us connect with the character more).
I mean if you wanted that destruction because of the studio insisting upon action or whatever else, that's fine, but still you have to show there being an attempt at an alternative.
And for the love of god, you don't have him making out with Lois with the city in smoldering ruins around him. That part was unforgivable (and stupid to boot)

And this.
This move would've been more awesome and captured what makes Superman perfectly if he at least attempted to move the battle somewhere else. It doesn't have to be successful but an attempt would've made the movie even better and people wouldn't be complaining about this destruction.

I just fuking rolled my eyes at this.
That was so unbelievably cliche and campy/corny but it didn't ruin the movie. Superman should've been fricking upset and in despair over the destruction and a make out session should've been the last thing on his mind.

In Superman's defense. This was his first fight against intergalactic beings. He had just gone through what was probably the most stressful event of his life. When the battle is seemingly over, and you have a hot chick standing right in front of you who would like nothing more than to climb in bed with you, you might just forget about all of your cares for a moment and kiss her.

and shite how she tracked him to smallville from all of these half remembered anecdotes from people not remotely connected to each other made zero fricking sense.

Let's use footage reminiscent of 9/11 to add emotional impact to our film.
This is probably an unpopular view on here, but I thought this movie was terrible. One of the worst movies I've seen in a while, but to be fair I haven't seen After Earth.

That would be so dumb. Yall are clinging to a piece of Supermans history that doesnt make a lick of sense.
