I agree but seeing movies in theaters and by yourself or at home for comedies are hard to compare IMO

Yea DT, Extract, MacGruber, Muppets, and the Watch sucked IMO.
They didn't suck (IMO), but I just checked a list of comedies from each year and listed ones that I saw and enjoyed. Like I said, obviously some aren't as good as others, which is why I added the "close" list.
And Pineapple Express didn't do much for me. It was okay I guess, but I'm not a huge Rogen, Franco, or McBride fan (though I liked them enough in TitE).

Ignored her? What the hell are you supposed to shower her with attention during the movie?

I hated Pineapple Express the first time I saw it.
Thought it was so dumb
Watched it again and loved it. Thought it was so funny

Obviously anyone can express their opinions, and even LTM isn't telling them not to. But I get his point about the movie being overhyped on here, and that it raises expectations for someone going into it and that can dampen the movie for them. I say that because that's exactly what happened for me...I was pumped about the movie and feel like I had my expectations in the right place, but the more I saw and read on here about how it was the best comedy in years (or ever, and multiple people were saying that for sure), it got me even more pumped about it. So when I saw it, even though it was good, it was disappointing for me based on what I had heard.
I understand this, but the burden on avoiding reviews and opinions of a certain movie you intend on seeing lies on the consumer. If I intend on seeing a movie, I avoid all contact with it until the theaters.

is terrible. Fails even as a silly stoner movie. Just as Expendables fails as a silly action movie.

Couldn't agree more.

Come on, now. Expendables had just the right amount camp and boom booms to make it enjoyable. It accomplished what it set out to accomplish.
And yeah, I think people are overhyping the shite out of TitE, but perhaps I should have worded the title better. Perhaps it should have read: "Hark Unto Me My Brethren, This is the End Has Been Built Upon Teetering Towers. It is the Pussy Goddess Pusselaia. Don't Buy Into It" But I didn't.
My bad, bro. Then I'd just be expressing my opinion whilst combating everyone else's terrible opinions on comedy.
(For Dr RC, I'm being sarcastic. People are entitled to their opinions and they are not necessarily terrible. For frick's sake, one of my favorite movies is H&K Escape from Gitmo)

I wasn't the biggest Pineapple Express fan, but I can appreciate it. It was funny.

It accomplished terribleness. The A-Team is a much more enjoyable action flick.

Me too. I've probably seen it 5 or 6 times. When I want action, the A-Team satisfies. (TWSS)

I didnt like it as much the first time I saw it. I dont know how some people can think its terrible though. Its pretty damn funny. Pretty quotable. One of my favorite parts is Rogen showing up at the girls high school and his encounter with the teacher and jock.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the A Team.

This is the End was entertaining, funny, and I enjoyed it.
BUT... I have to agree with the OP in saying that it was good, but people on this board went overboard in their praise.
It's hard to point out exactly what is "wrong" with it... but here is my shot:
In the movie, there is little to no exposition of the characters to get you to buy into them. I realize the actors are portraying a version of themselves... not themselves. But you need to know more about them other than "Hey... it's Seth Rogen. He played that guy in "Knocked Up." I know who Danny McBride is, for instance. But I don't have enough backstory on Danny McBride of "This is the End."
I know that the movie has a lot of in-jokes, and we are just watching them take place, so we are "out" of the in-jokes... but in a movie... that's not such a good thing. The audience needs to be "in" on the in-jokes. If we knew the characters better, we would get those jokes.
I think this is a weakness of concept more than anything.
Again - enjoyed the movie, but could have been better.
