I find it disgusting that just because he went to lsu everyone is willing to overlook his anti American views. This man literally makes me sick.

Brief. Pithy!
I don't agree with a lot of his takes on life and religion, but to claim that he's not motivated is pretty ridiculous.

Chris is welcome at my dinner table.
Mahmoud can live in a cold, dark cave in the Middle East! And all the liberals in this thread can join him!
Good day and GEAUX TIGERS!

Chris Jackson was the man in the day. That between the leg and then back thru again was a money move no one did it better.

He's a very confused man. Imagining himself as a victim of a vast U.S./Jewish conspiracy to keep him ignorant and on the bench when he was the best in the game. He takes no responsibility for anything. Gives Allah credit for every success and blames 'them' for everything that went wrong in his life. The world is just too confusing for him to understand. All his and the world's problems are caused by Jews and the tri-lateral commission.
He ironically sounds scarily close to the far religious political right or KKK.

1) I am not a liberal (though, I do not consider being called one pejorative)
2) I quoted the entire post above me even though I'd usually not use the term "bullshite opinion"
3) calling an opinion "bullshite" is NOT the same as saying "sit down and shut up".
I have no issue with Mahmoud Abdul Rauf in THIS video. He has his point of view and expressed it well. I need not agree with it to enjoy the video. Others are free to disagree with him or me and so be it.

Which should not be surprising, considering the guy was INCREDIBLY religious back when he was at LSU. Of course, back then, he was the "right" religion and no one gave a frick about his fanaticism. From my perspective, he simply chose one silly belief system over another silly belief system. I'll no more hate him for that now than I did back then.

I will say he would shoot you out of a game as well as he would win one... Up 15 with a few mins left and he's jacking shite up relentlessly with no concern for shot clock etc.

He is actually a pretty nice guy and to say he wasn't a hard worker is crazy. He worked his butt off in HS and college. His stay in the NBA was doomed by his lack of playing defense. In HS and college he would just outscore whoever he was supposed to guard, but in the NBA he couldn't do that. I don't agree with his views on religion, but if you talk to him face to face he is a nice guy.

He turned his back on America..that's all I need to know...

No...back then he didn't shove it in your face...he just played basketball. That's why no one gave a frick.

I can respect what he did on the court and I can resepect his religion. But I can't respect a person who refuses to stand when the national anthem is played.

No...he mentioned it. It just so happened that when he did it didn't sound "strange" to anyone, because most were on board with what he was saying. It was well known the guy had a crucifix sewn into his game socks, etc.
He wasn't Tebowesque in his religion, but to suggest it wasn't obvious is being disingenuous.
His religiosity only became a problem when he switched teams.

He still lives in America, pays taxes (probably has paid more in taxes than any in this thread ever will), gives back to his community, and has never committed a crime.
He has philosophical disagreements with the US government and societal structure. Wow, groundbreaking stuff there.

If you mean the 'not standing for the National Anthem', he addresses that in the video and admits he was wrong.
There is no one more zealous that the newly converted to ANYTHING. He points out in the video that one of his Muslim mentors educated him that he can have issues with specific items and still respect the whole. He played after that garbage and stood at attention for the anthem
Again, I don't care if others dislike him. I am no champion of his. I just want to be accurate as to what he said then vs now.

That's not the problem to me. It's his refusal to stand for the national anthem. Now, he says he was wrong. At least he didn't Kanye it and say he has no regrets. But to me, it shouldn't have been done in the first place.
