If his foot checks out, I want him at 6. I really like the idea of he and Davis. He seems to have the agility to defend the high pick and roll sufficiently and his physical attributes are very rare.

I like his range. His lack of using his left hand is a lil unsettling to me.
Is he that much of an upgrade of Lopez to spend the 6th pick on?

Alex Len=Next Brook Lopez.

I'd rather a center with an unfinished left hand than a SF with no left hand (looking at you, Otto)

He has legit all-star potential, so yes, his upside is a lot higher. Like any player, though, he also has a floor.

I actually got scoffed at for suggesting Len a couple months ago, but I really think his game is more suited for the NBA than college.

Yep. I want no part of Otto.

Maryland guards were atrocious for most of the year and really did not set him up. Len is considered a really good rebounder. Lopez is not. Different games.

It was a stress fracture in his foot. I couldn't find much data on recurrence of stress fractures other than once you get them you're a lot more likely to get them again. Bigs with bad wheels scare me, so I'd definitely need odds on his injury potential before even considering him.

Lopez has a solid offensive skill set similar to Len's but Robin's lack of athleticism prevents him from being anything more than what he is now imo.
Len has the athleticism and potential game to be an all-star.
If he and AD grow together and reach some of that potential that 1-2 punch would make us very hard to beat in the future.

In terms of stats, Len ranks in the middle among college centers in just about every category.
I fail to comprehend how a 7 foot center who didn't dominate when matched against players 4 inches shorter and 30 pounds lighter will suddenly succeed against NBA centers.

The same way Drummond has. Len isn't on the board because of his college stats, it's because of his potential.

Unpolished Offensively=like all rookies
Strength & Toughness=like all rookies
Inconsistent Intensity=crock of shite

he's a 7ft center with long arms. he's the easiest guy to better the lefty. its not all that hard to spin left to sky hook or dunk.

im glad there are a few here who understand this kid and his situation at maryland. had len played for one of the top recruiters in the country, he'd be a top rated player in the draft. had he played with a decent backcourt on a contending team, he'd be the consensus #1.

This is very true
Lopez is also too soft for my liking

You would think, right?
But watching that video, what jumped out to me was his reluctance to go left. Sure, he could develop one. I don't think Hibbert had much of a left coming out of college, but his is pretty nice now.
He did resemble Lopez a lot to me. He looked a lil more fluid in his moves, ran the floor well (kinda reminded me of Tyson Chandler) and had a nice touch for a big.
I won't "hate" the pick, but who knows?
ETA: lemme add this. I prefer him than Nerlens.
