re: Northshore High School Football followers ... re: Covington Job

Covington wasn't even relevant before him. And there are tons of coaches that have antics, everybody has a different coaching style. You can't build a program over night. Boosters and principal can try to slice it any way they want, but it was pretty messed up. If you don't like it, do it after the season or tell him he can finish the year but they don't plan on him coming back so he can at least have ample time to find another job.

This is so dumb. So Scobel made them relevant, with his 26-26 record? Laughable

I understand that, but it's not like he's Nick Saban and winning every year. He's not, he's going .500. And with parent complaints filing in, I understand why they did it.
I agree, the timing is bad, and he had them playing better the past two seasons, with this year expecting to compete for district. Although the last time they were expected to win district, they went 6-4 and lost in the first round of the playoffs.
The coach before Scobel had a better record than him and got fired, and he was liked by the boosters. So I understand them firing because of his .500 record and his antics.

Has Covington/Mandy/St. Paul's/F'bleau ever produced a State championship in football? Or even a runner up?
Just curious...

None for all. Fontainebleau has only been a school for 15 years or so

Bad?
I can't wait to see how this thing plays out. Scobel, and all the assistants who quit are stuck at Covington because transfer fair already passed, so they can't leave and go to another school within the parish.
The new coach can't hire people because job fair just passed.
Awesome clusterfrick.

Scobel is a big arse. Like others said, he couldn't keep the language clean on the sidelines and got out in the press box. He even acted like an arse up there.
He got what he deserved.

Yea you don't sound biased at all. Guess you never played high school football either if you think cursing is not the norm out there.

He's appealing his firing to the School Board fwiw. Should be interesting.

Fontainebleau opened in like 1994. Made it to state semis about 8 years ago.

I understand that cursing is a part of coaching, but I have seen coaches take it to a level that is over the line.

He was 26-26 in his 5 years, and 0-4 in the playoffs. And 0-5 against rival St Paul's and 1-5 against Mandeville.
That's not gonna cut it.
To be fair, it's not like he was coaching on the collegiate or professional level, where this type of expectation is in the contract. There are much shittier coaches that somehow keep their jobs at high schools after multiple 2 or 3 win seasons. As the first response to the OP indicated, this smells 100% like politics, which is such a terrible reason to terminate someone.

Another great story of Northshore corruption. I don't live there, but it really gets old to hear about the son's nephew's grandfather's best friend's cousin getting a job or winning a legal battle over someone else.
I wonder if this started due to Northshore history, or did this spread from another part of LA corruption? I truly don't know is why I'm asking.

They'll never be St Paul's equal so they live in misery and jealousy.

Is this about that shitty high school in that shitty town of Slidell?
Posted on 6/2/13 at 9:20 pm to LaBornNRaised
Its easy to put it on small time "politics".
The guy wasn't getting the job done, plain and simple.
Let me put it in terms you rantards understand.
If Les Miles went .500 in his 5 years at LSU, winless in postseason play, and 0-5 against Alabama and 1-5 against Ole Miss, would you still want him as your coach? Didnt think so. The rant would crash in an instant

Nah, it's about Covington High School and the good-old boy network. The thread title is kinda misleading since there is actually a Northshore High School as well.
