I've seen a good bit of talk on here about KCP, but not as much on CJ. I think that if McLemore, Porter, and Olandipo are gone, I'd rather CJ over Burke.

McCollum is coming out at just the right time. He compares well to Lillard and Steph Curry, both coming off of breakout seasons. Considering how no one is sold on anyone in this draft it's possible he's off the board before we pick at 6.
I think he's the kind of guy you want at PG. This team isn't good enough for a pass first PG. You want a guy that can play the PnR with Davis and PnP with Anderson, get his own shot, and also be a threat off ball when Gordon or Rivers are handling the ball. CJM checks a lot of boxes.
I also really like Pope. He should come into the league with a fairly useful skill set and he has the potential to become much more. I'd be happy with drafting either of them.

McCollum has become my #1 if we stay at 6

their production is self centered. i've stated this. im waiting on a playmaking natural.

You need players that can make plays to pair with a "playmaker natural". Which we don't have yet.

my view of a playmaker(speaking of pg for us) is one who can penetrate to score, penetrate to distribute and have the ability to play in any situation at any point of the game. you only take them out to rest them. timme, cp, lbj, nash before decrepedcy kicked in & kd.
playmakers do what they do and make average guys stand out. cp3 was the best while in nola. he is the only one i can remember who raised everyones stock. noticed how easy it was to trade all of those avge guys who played in nola with him? and then the f/a drew noticeable attention.

So you're holding out for a top 5 PG. We have to be realistic about the rebuild. You pretty much have to be a perennial All Star level player to make it to your 2nd contract with a team, so the odds of whoever we pick being part of the Anthony Davis era are low. Grab the best players available, if they fit great, if they don't, package them and flip them later.

These videos can make you look like a stud and a bum at the same time.

i left out rondo who in rumors with us. incredible playmaker on both ends. we dont need one guy to last the entire era of our young core. rondo has enough years left to find our next guy and allow him to grow.

I wouldn't say Curry is complelety self centered. He is one of the best passers in the league and has pretty good court vision. I'll argue he's made Thompson and Barnes better players. Hell, David Lee is an All-NBA player, I don't he gets there without a good PG getting him the ball.
On Topic, I agree that a natural playmaker (such as MCW) is the ideal pick for this draft.

David Lee was an All-Star with the Knicks. The Nuggets did a S&T to get him which included a 6 year, $80M contract. He was a known commodity by the time he played a single minute with Curry. Curry absolutely did not make David Lee.
ETA - Checked his numbers. He shot a higher % in every year with the Knicks (never below 54.5%) than any single year with the Warriors (never above 50.7%).

McCollum is good, but his slow release will make it tough to get off those paint jumpers in the league. He needs to develop a floater or something similar. He's already 21, possibly 22, and missed most of last year with a broken foot.

Well, it seems that the floater is a shot that our coaches teach well, so maybe it could work.

Well they definitely teach it. The 'well' part is questionable.

The more I see about McCollom the more I like him. He's about to pass Burke on my board. Either way, I'm happy knowing that either he or Burke will be there at 6.

I honestly love both of them. But if I had to choose I would go with Trey Burke. My wildcard pick though is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Same here. After reading more about him today, I think he has passed Burke for me.

hijacking thread
David Lee, the one time All-Star in New York was about as empty a player as there was. He was Sharif Abdul Rahim. The Knicks thought enough of him that they didn't even attempt to bring him back instead worked a sign and trade for Azbuke, Randolph and Ronny Turiaf. How valuable is he really if that's what he brings back? The Knicks preferred Am'are, another defensive liability and a lesser rebounder, with uninsurable knees over David Lee. The only thing they could get for him is two projects and a player with a history of heart problems.
Aside from that, David Lee has improved as a defensive player in GS, mostly in thanks to Mark Jackson. He's also become a focal point of the half-court offense, as opposed to with the Knicks where he wasn't getting nearly the amount of play called for him. That is a testament to his talent, but he is now showcasing his skillset like never before and that is because he has guards who get him the ball.
A convo like this really doesn't belong on PT so/ hijack
As for the Pels, I prefer the playmaker to an addition of another big in the draft. Having more passers on the court opens up possesions for the franchise player. KCP is the option only if we are trading Gordon.

I love McCollum great player a little more mature and has had to have been the main scorer for his team and shoots 50 percent from three. Also hes a decent defender to boot.

He's making $13M a year. Obviously someone thought he was better than Rahim. The Knicks took the sign and trade rather than match.

All of this is true and signing him for $13.3 per year indicated they had the intention of him being a focal point.

Then why are his offensive numbers down across the board with those "guards who get him the ball"? Your argument flies in the face of clear evidence to the contrary.
