Do a google search on scotch + Tigerdroppings. There are quite a few threads out there, and just like any food/drink it depends on your tastes. Only way to know is to try.

On the rocks I assume?

anCnoc if you can find it. Hell no on the ice. 2 or three drops of water to "open it up" and that's it.

There are plenty of scotch enthusiasts that enjoy it over rocks.

Usually I add two or three ice chips to open the scotch up a little. Never pour over a glass of ice though.

Start with the speysides and work to the islays.

For a low cost scotch, I prefer Johnnie Walker Red. I find it pretty mild with a good flavor.

Lagavulin 16.
Like all the Islay Malts, peaty as hell, but damn good.

Any of you ever tried the Loch Dhu black scotch?
I used to work at a bar that served it and man, you talk about a strong smoky tasting whisky!

Sweet...thanks.
Okay, like I said...I've never tried Scotch, so what should I expect? I have a buddy that said its awful. But is it something I may have to give a couple tries to accommodate a taste for it?

Don't expect to fall in love with scotch on the first try. I would recommend a couple of blends before going single malt, only because blends tend to be more drinkable.
Sip, don't shoot. Take your time and hold the scotch in your mouth. It is complex and not like that redneck swill made in America.
Btw, not sure how Ardbeg 10 compares to Ardbeg Alligator, but if alligator is opened in a bar you will smell it for 30' away.

Three rocks are all you get in a glass of single malt, it chills it to room temp in Scotland.
