Just got to watch last night, this is definitly the first episode where I feel the book and show are really starting to take different paths. Sure, the main events will all be there, but the road geting to those events sure looks different in the show.
Still thoroughly enjoying it.

That is an interesting take on Theon’s screen time. The first thing that occurs to me is that these scenes were dedicated just as much to establishing Ramsey as to building Theon’s storyline.
Because, as far as Theon’s story goes I think it’s a fascinating psychological profile of a man under that kind of inhumane treatment in the book. (You have to remember your name). But, as good as the writing and acting on this show are, I don’t really see them trying to explore those depths in significant detail.
I also don’t see Theon’s storyline as one of great redemption or progress. I think too much water has passed under the bridge. I mean he sacked Winterfell. I’m pretty sure he did at least some raiding and reaving on the coast. Even though the kids he killed were not Bran and Rickon, I don’t think anyone in the North will be likely to forgive him for that stuff. So, to that extent, the writer has a point.
But I think that Ramsey still needs to be established in all his depravity and “low cunning”. The things that will allow him to have some successes and the things that MAY come back to bite him (and through him Roose) all need to be established. Because I’m pretty sure the Bolton’s are to play a significant part in the upcoming seasons.

I really like the bastard. I lol'd when he blew the horn to wake Theon up and kept a smile on my face the whole scene (except for the close up flaying... ).
I'm also beginning to think I have some psychological problems w/ how much I like the bastard on the show. But I never liked Theon period.
WHOA. Ros. WTF.
Jon and Ygritte.... Man it's gonna be rough to see her die. Was bad enough reading it. And it just makes me want Jon Snow and his lord's kiss even more.
I too was hoping we'd get Sam the Slayer but at least they introduced the dragonglass for the hordors.
Hordor. that is all.
I think the Arya and Melisandre scene was a nice nod to the readers and foreshadowing of what Arya is to become....a fricking lil' badass.
I'm glad they had Brienne in the pink dress but I wish we could have seen better how "ill-fitting" it's supposed to be on her...but we should next week in the bear pit
My old gods and new, I love how they are portraying Olenna. She's awesome. No need to re-hash, but yea. Sword swallower. Awesome.
I also think we missed a good little scene w/ Tyrion telling Sansa and Shae about the engagement. Would have been nice seeing their reactions.
Oh, and I like Tormond. Har.

Every person on the crackpot thread assured me I'd hate the Bastard more than Joffrey, but I don't at all. Joffrey is just a little punk-arse pussy who in no way earned his position and has really no means of defending it outside of his prestigious grandfather and imp uncle.
The Bastard though, as despicable as he is, completely earned his position. He has proven he is a great threat by himself and is a guy who just doesn't give a frick.

I agree, the Bastard is both more evil and likable than Joffrey.

Both actors are playing the roles great.
Jack Gleeson has been spot on as Joff. Really makes you hate him and see how his twisted mind works. He makes great facial gestures when Margaery is stroking his ego.
Iwan Rheon really just makes me smile as the bastard. I guess I had a hard time picturing in the books but man...he does so much w/ a look. Even though we haven't seen that much of him, I love it when we get to see his scenes.

I still have a very hard time imagining that voice when I read this letter:
quote:
Your false king is dead bastard. He and all his host were smashed in seven days of battle. I have his magic sword. Tell his red whore.
Your false king's friends are dead. Their heads upon the walls of Winterfell. Come see them, bastard. Your false king lied, and so did you. You told the world you burned the King-Beyond-the-Wall. Instead you sent him to Winterfell to steal my bride from me.
I will have my bride back. If you want Mance Rayder back, come and get him. I have him in a cage for all the north to see, proof of your lies. The cage is cold, but I have made him a warm cloak from the skins of the six whores who came with him to Winterfell.
I want my bride back. I want the false king's queen. I want his daughter and his red witch. I want this wildling princess. I want his little prince, the wildling babe. And I want my Reek. Send them to me, bastard, and I will not trouble you or your black crows. Keep them from me, and I will cut out your bastard's heart and eat it.
Ramsay Bolton, Trueborn Lord of Winterfell.

Well he does still have a lot of "development" in the show. By the time we get to that, I bet we'll be able to believe it.
Right now, he's just having fun...playing a game. I think he'll be different once he becomes more of a leader and legitimized.

Even if he wrote it, its irrelevant. Its clear whose voice we should be hearing in our heads.

The Hodors I think are getting closer to the Boltons plans.

The show is kind of making it obvious that Robb's story won't have a happy ending.

The episode before that, they made it fairly optimistic he'd get the Freys and take Casterly Rock.

I hope they come up with a good Xs and Os game plan to take the rock so the viewers are they thinking he's got it. Like mention Ser Kevin riding from there to King's Landing for wedding.

That's true...but he keeps on saying how he is winning battles but losing the war yaddayaddayadda.
Robb should've married the Frey hoochie, or Catelyn should've picked a better looking family, and all of this could've been avoided.

Can't believe it took me to long to get around to posting this, but:
Jojen Reed totally sucked as a greenseer this episode. That info about Jon Snow was worse than useless.
