Not that I don't enjoy a good steak, and Ruth's does a damn good one, and nice cuts and grade, but besides the steak, what is it about the place that would impress?

Meh... I don't find it much to write home about, and I realize it's all about the meat there, but I guess I wonder if their steaks weren't so good, would people really have them high on the list?

Probably not. To me, it's the experience and nostalgia of going back to that place where special moments and memories were made. It's reliving birthday meals, celebratory dinners and seeing friends and family that I haven't seen in a while.

I read ya. Not hating on them at all. They still do a damn good steak, and sometimes you have to gorge on some red meat. I also have fond memories with family and friends there. My uncle lives for it.

I feel ya. I was kinda thinking the same thing. Not that I don't think they do what they do well. The Chilean Sea Bass at Ruth's is one of the best fish dishes I've had in a restaurant too..
I just can't really place a steak restaurant in my top 10 because I don't eat much steak.
BUT. Everything I've had that wasn't steak at Ruth's or Fleming's has been fantastic enough to rank them up high even without steaks. So I see the hype

Well, regardless, I'm certainly not going to push their food away, especially that cowboy ribeye.

Of all the restaurants people have named here, you single out Ruth's ?

Like I said. It's not really a right and wrong thing here. It's popular opinion mostly. I just always see them on the list and wonder what goes into that. That's all. Not ripping them.

I must be missing something because Mestizo was gross to me. Shredded seafood covered in cream and cheese.
Mestizo's food is awful. We go just for the 5 dollar skinny Rita's

If we are counting Roberto's, then that should be near the top of the list. Also, I've only seen Rama on a few lists. I think Rama is worthy.
