So, how's the fishing in Thailand?

I'm going on a mission trip in June to Thailand. If the opportunity of free time comes up, I may want to do a little fishing while I'm there.
Any of y'all ever been there? Is it possible for someone to just go fishing there, or are there permits or licenses required? What would I possibly be fishing for?
Any info is appreciated. Thanks, guys.

i've been to pattaya and phuket. but it was with the navy so partying was the only thing on the brain . im guessing you'll be in a small village or something. its a third world country so unless you look wealthy as hell and flashing nice fishing gear, u should be fine without a license. a lot of catfish and rays in those warm waters.

If the beach suddenly gets exposed by a quickly receding "tide", resist the urge to go pick up fish on the beach.

It's amazing!!! I was going after a red snapper and I ended up catching crabs there. The best part was I didn't even have to go near the water!!!!

pattaya beach to be exact. its a tourist area. always remember that its cheaper that what vendors/sellers are saying. my ship would go there after weeks/months out to see and i was young buck so do the math on that one . stay away from drugs or you'll end up on ''locked up abroad''. we didnt venture to far inland cause the ship dropped anchor on the beach where much fun is. there are official tour guides everywhere. the animal shows and live outside kickboxing matches where fun. those are warm waters over there so it should be fishing everywhere. you may have to go north or south of the populated area. and if you are into live adult pleasure/entertainment, its a playground but be responsible.
