Holy fricking shite. What's idiotic is I said I don't want to trade up. I gave my reasons why I don't want to trade up. They are my reasons. For the fourth fricking time, you don't have to agree with them. We aren't talking about picks that we stood pat. We didn't give up anything to stay pat. We gave up additional picks to move up. Which is part of MY, read that word again, MY reasoning a to why I don't want them to move up. We've given up too much to move up in the past. I would like to see them quit giving up picks, we end up with a mediocre player, a lose next years first in addition.
For the last time, I hope, you disagree. That's fine. Idk why you are so hell bent in changing my opinion. We disagree. That's fine. Saints Talk will continue to exist for us to disagree about something else in the future. You think I'm an idiot for not wanting to trade up. I think you're an idiot if you want to trade up. And that's fine. Life goes on.

Depends on the situation a Franchise is in, and the talent available at their selection. At this point; we def need to trade down due to our lack of depth and lack of picks. I love ML, but he has been squandering picks for the last few years. It is also a major contributing factor to the cap problem.
Of course some of the draft picks lost last season and this season are due to that dick head Goddell.

You forgot Morstead. We traded a 5th rounder to get him.

Actually I didn't I mentioned as one of the few good moves we made either earlier in this thread or another.
Did we trade a fifth to get him or trade in to te fifth to get him?

You need to acknowledge we must not stand pat either. We picked Josh Lay one time bro. Malcom Jenkins, Patrick Robinson, Robert Meachem, and Greg Romeus.

all in all the loomis/payton front office has been kind of just EH in the first round the whole time. Cam Jordan yes, Reggie....maybe, but even if you do count him that is two out of 6 not counting last years pick that they hit on. Just hope they have better luck this year regardless of where the pick is

I thought that was the whole point of the thread? We trade up or down? Staying pat is not an option
Trade down. Final answer

regardless of trading up or down or standing pat or fluffing themselves. History in our organization says we should trade an even swap of our 1st round pick for someone's 4th round pick.

the point of the thread has metamoraphed itself into we must burn all of our draft picks and go home. We only can draft punters and go ballz to the wall in 6th and 7th rounders then throw millions at udfa's.

Agreed. Can looks to be good.
Even if someone considers Reggie a bust, that was almost a must pick at that point. Honestly, I will preface with IMO, the Reggie pick led to the first season sell out and the rest is history. So in that sense, he was totally worth it. He was awesome at times and equally frustrating at others. More frustration than awesome it seemed

sounds like a plan
I was basing all my rationale and my decision on the op and history we have recently fwiw in addition to the fact id like to acquire picks as opposed to give them away. More picks gives more room or error which is part of the reason all of our picks are magnified. Because we have so few every year

Absolutely 31 other teams would have made that pick with the only one not making it sitting with the #1 pick. And yes I completely agree he was good for the franchise and lifted this organization up. But call a spade a spade you want more from the #2 overall pick.
Oh and yes history does say we should trade away for a fourth round pick lol, but we all know that is silly. Draft is a crapshoot in the first round most of the time. Our entire defensive line and two of our DB starters were first round picks last year. You can bring up examples for it constantly but ultimately your hoping you make the right call in the end.
Just hope that dice rolls our way this year

This thread must have been what was going on in Ditka's head when he was debating drafting Ricky Williams.
"Trade up, trade back, trade up, Ricky Williams, Longhorns, sausage, Ditka, Ricky, Ditka..." "frick it, here are all my picks Washington!"

No doubt you want more from the #2. Reggie was also a victim of his own hype. No way he could've lived up to it. While I didn't expect him to be the perfect combo of gale Sayers and Barry sanders, I did expect more and hoped he would "get it". He just tried for the homer in every play a opposed to getting what he could. Led to losses and fumbles
