Coffee Recommendations

Is there a brand of coffee that is recommended over the coffee found in stores like Target? I don't mind them but nothing just stands out, just want to try some others and find my brand.

My favorite "traditional" coffee is Starbucks Sumatra.
If you are near a Whole Foods, most of them roast their own beans on site and have bins full of different beans if you want to try a few different ones.
The biggest difference maker in taste though is to grind beans very course and brew in a french press.

I grind when I can.
I like the Italian and French roasts. Any brand or blends recommended there?

Buy it as fresh as possible...don't buy crappy whole beans stored in non-airtight containers. Order direct from Orleans Coffee www.orleanscoffee.com (I pick up directly at their roastery) or try French Truck Coffee www.frenchtruckcoffee if that's closer to your 'hood.
Edited to attempt to fix the links.

Yeah, when the did the major renovation to the Rouses on Vets, they set up this nice coffee area. The bins of beans that they have by the counter are sitting there with no lid on or anything.
I can't understand what they are thinking with that set up.

I order whole bean cafe britt dark roast from coasta rica off of amazon. I really enjoy the flavor, and it ships for free if you have amazon prime.
Since I have been drinking this, I have to really want coffe to drink CC(what my office provides.) It is a shame, I used to like the free coffee perk.

Fresh Market has a great selection of their own brand available. They also sell Peet's, which is the best mass distribution coffee available, imo.

If you buy Starbucks in the grocery store you can get points on your Gold Card.

my two favorites are La Colombe or the Nicaraguan Momotomba from Fresh Market. buy the beans whole and grind yourself .. makes a world of difference. a decent drip pot is good and use a french press on the weekends when you have a little more time.

I'll have to try out some at fresh market and whole foods.
