Yeah. Sort of hints at another Titan release.

I don't know anyone can justify spending $1200 for a GPU on a gaming pc.
Plenty of cards capable of 1080p/1440 gameplay that are priced less than half of that.

This is not the first time.
Many of us here already do so, and thats not counting blocks. 1440 is old news also, 2160 is here. The problem we are having is that it is GDDR5X and not HBM2.

Maybe I'm just a poor cheap arse

No you are right. The majority of gamers are still at 1080 even though 1440 has been mainstream since 2012.
$1200 is retarded for what is being offered, but its come to be expected. The issue most have is that it should be HBM2 not GDDR5X at that price point. If it was $999 like all other TITANS, then the lack of HBM2 wouldn't be an issue.
I'm just saying that some of us are used to spending almost double that on our 1.5-2yr upgrades just for GPUs. Now that is just inside this TD forum. Think about outside. A lot of upper tier PC builders who don't mind dishing that out.

Just wanted to point out that I have a job interview with a local company who is looking for someone to help build gaming pc's for their business. They do a little bit of everything but this is their main money maker. Hope I get it!
Posted on 7/22/16 at 11:26 am to CockCommander
Where are you located?
Posted on 7/22/16 at 11:29 am to LSU Coyote
Jackson, MS. Unfortunately.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 11:32 am to CockCommander
Congrats on landing an interview.
Always interesting to me that they have these companies out there. Just because it is so much fun to build your own PC. To me it's like paying someone to build your Lego set.
So this company is out of Jackson?
Crazy.
Edt: sorry I meant to ask where the company is located.

Yeah I feel the same but some people just don't have time or patience to build I think. I get it. But still, would be great to actually make a paycheck on my hobby.

Yeah I totally understand.

Yeah, they still exist, and it's surprising some of the local ones are sustainable without their bread and butter being phone/tablet repair, or like the one around here operating as an authorized AT&T/Verizon/Whatever dealer.
The companies like Puget Systems, though, have a real purpose. It's the type of company I'd like to own. Real experts who don't sell one-size-fits-all machines, or ones that cut corners wherever possible, with poor support, etc. (like ibuypower cyberwhatever).

Yeah these guys try to do a little bit of everything, phone repair, data shite and web design but from my conversation with the owner it seems doing PC's is their main thing.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 12:55 pm to CockCommander
I would love to do this, just seems hard to make good money unless you specialize in one of those fields within the industry.
Edt: I've thought about repairing PCs in my younger days but shtt the market is flooded. Even here in Thibodaux.

If I get the titan x can I replace the stock cooler? Read that stock titan x cooler causes thermal throttling and it looks to be the same cooler.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 1:09 pm to LSUSaintsHornets
Yeah no doubt. Buy one of the after market cooler options.
...or put a WB on it. Honestly that's what you should do.
Edt: the throttling is a problem with nVidia's strict TDP limits. A custom VBIOS will most likey be released by some forum poster within the same launch week which fixes the issue.
I always buy a pair of cards for SLi and blocks for the main rig. This card might be enough to go single for a while. Crazy thing is, this card + 1 block is a lot cheaper than the normal 2 cards + 2 blocks.

I want to go sli but I can't justify the purchase if I can't even display 4k over 60 frames anyway.

With 2 you could hit over 60. I personally care about nice panels and resolution with all the latest tech like HDR.
