Well if you end up selling them I may buy one to crossfire them

Is anyone here familiar with photoshop? I have a finished stream overlay done for a friend that I created/saved to my desktop. However, if I wanted to make any changes I can't because when I re-open the overlay, all the layers I put in to it are grouped into one big unexpandable layer. Does anyone here know how I can go back and edit a project (edit previous font, etc.) that i've saved to my desktop?

You should have saved 2 different files. The first one as an unmerged version(editable), and the second as the final version.
I may be wrong though. Stout could definitely tell you what you could/should do.
ETA: I use Gimp 2.0 for editting, but it should be a similar process in photoshop.

I just did quick and dirty benchmark comparison using Unigine Valley. I think it really demonstrates how restrictive this 8350 really is for a high end GPU, especially if someone isn't overclocking the cpu.
The r9 290 is at it's stock speeds of 980/1250 with the power limit raised to 50% to prevent throttling.
Note the minimum FPS and maximum throughout*
Fx 8350 stock clock speeds and bios settings.
Fx 8350 at it's stock boost speed of 4.2, everything else is default.
Fx 8350 at 4.5, everything else is default.
Fx 8350 at 4.8, everything else is default.
I don't know if I'll find the ceiling of this card with this CPU. :/

Quick little OC on the 4770k and 270x.

I started building my HTPC/ITX build but probably won't finish it until tomorrow. Just not in the mood to fight wires in a small arse case today.

I need and i7 in a really bad way.
Posted on 4/12/14 at 6:29 pm to stout
Which case are you building in?

Yea you do, especially if you're going to be putting your system under water.
If I was spending the money to watercool, I wouldn't get less than a 4770k. I would try to grab a used 3930k and rock that shite.

This is exactly what I'm looking at. I'm going to wait till x99 comes out for prices on them to drop even more. Right now used 3930ks are going for $375-$450 on ebays.

My 8350 can't get close to 10k on the 3dmark11 physics score. Closest it's ever got was 9200 with it at 5.2ghz. Not even close to stable, though.

I threw my 4770k to 4.6 with 1.225v and had 0 problems getting 10k

Nice! Did you look at the Silverstone sg05/sg06? Case is freaking amazing and extremely tiny. Only problem is fitting a decent sized graphics card in there is a pain
Posted on 4/12/14 at 9:41 pm to bluebarracuda
I wanted a very small case but at the same time I wanted to fit a larger GPU in it which is why I went with this one. HDD space may be the only issues though. I can fit 1 HHD and 1 SSD only because of the CPU loop so I will have to get a 4TB I guess.
Speaking of...what is the best closed loop CPU cooler out there right now? I have an H60 on my 8350 and it's meh...

It's a little exaggerated, though. The benchmark is designed to test your CPU in a manner disproportionate to what most games are going to require. I'm guessing that there's an emphasis on single-threaded performance in this test, since your FPS averages seem to increase in response to each overclock, with no point of diminishing returns. I'd also bet that if that test were run at a higher resolution (1440p monitor or higher), there'd be less emphasis on the CPU and you'd see an even smaller % FPS increase with each overclock.
This is why I hate benchmarks. I've maybe run Unigine Valley once or twice in my life, but I might frick around with it tonight and see how it responds to my 4770k and 1440p.

Yeah, AMD CPUs score shtt in benches. This is because 3DMark favors IPC over Multi-Core performance.
EDT: Single core IPC.

I want to AMD bench off but would need to break down a loop to do so.
Get yourself a damn Intel...

I would wait for X99, damn 8350 outperforms 3930Ks in x264. Fckk virtual cores when real work needs to get done.
As for gaming, single core IPC is the way to go. Some games my 4670K is much more responsive and handles CPU intensive better at times over my 4930K. Games still are stuck at 4 cores, only benefit as you guys have probably discussed are the full x16 lanes.

Yeah, I still really don't know what I want. I might still end up with a 4820k or something.

That would be dumb, better off with a 4770K.
